from www.superbikeplanet.com, regarding first round at Valencia:

"Fast laps of the race (03 vs 04) were over seven seconds per lap slower."

This is just plain sad! It just demonstrates how fragile any race series can be. At one time, it could be argued WSBK eclipsed the GPs, now it's become a Pirelli Ducati Cup with second rate riders. It really had the potential to co-exist with MotoGP since it featured production-based superbikes, but the promoters really did a job on it and all but one of the manufacturers pulled out.

Maybe they can have the Laguna WSBK on Saturday since the AMA races will really become the premier events that everyone will go to watch.

I see AMA as being a better feeder series...except for the whole European elitism..

Maybe you genius' should watch race and realize that the 1st race was in wet/damp conditions.

2nd race was better once things started to dry out, unless you are Laconi.

I am looking forward to maybe 5 guys with a chance to win the series. Maybe the single tire formula will work?

World Supersport is on SpeedTV tomorrow AM. I will be watching that too. I think that will be a better overall series than WSBK.

How can you say the racing is not good when the paintjobs are so colorful?

I'm not a Ducati World Cup fan. That's not racing to me...

your faster i guess :p

I'll watch any road race, I'm even an AFM fan

Hey Robert, how about taking it easy on us "geniuses" that didn't have the time to sit and watch the race and based our opinions on information received from a generally reliable source that didn't mention any adverse racing conditions... :twofinger

I still stand by my statement and I'm thrilled with the single tire format that freed up resources for Michelin to dedicate to the US! :D :kicknuts

I was actually quite impressed with the finish of the Ten Kate CBR1000RR. The bike "Looks" pretty stock to me and to be competing that well with all the Duc's is pretty impressive to me. GP

The verdict is still out for me, but I'm anxious to see how the season progresses. I like the idea of a control tire, it takes away one piece of the special interest equipment given to the factory bikes.

Yea it's a Ducati fest but I enjoyed 750 Superstock as well. That being said I don't think it'll take Ten Kate too long to get to the front. Just the way they dominated WSS last year was evidence they are a quality outfit. Vermeulen made the normally close racing a battle for second last year.

I think with the talents of McCoy, Haga, Chili, Vermeulen and hopefully Corser it won't be a Fila rout. Who knows maybe this Haslam kid has something up his sleeve as well.

I thought this information may interest some of you...

Haga's bike is actually Xaus' old bike with a different motor (this years motor). His team mate (Haslam) is riding this years "racing special" 999 model.

Also, Chili was riding his 'old' 998 instead of the 999 which I found impressive.

I won't spoil the actual results if some of you didn't see it.

You should have seen the lack of longevity from the Pirelli's. It was a slip n' slide show after 10 laps....Supposedly, the side grip isn't there either and big lean angles/corner speed will cause oversteer as evidenced by Haga almost highsiding mid corner....

It is fun to watch a single tire race. Takes away a lot of factors and preferentail treatment.

Speaking of Michelin's....what's the "tryout" fee for a set of DOT Race for my R6? :) :)

I'd expect "slip - n - slide" in the rain Genius...

The second race didn't have the excuse of rain, but it was still cold and presumably damp. Much more so than last year's typical Valencia warm weather when it was scheduled later in the season.

But, I'd have to agree that SBK is waaay less interesting than MotoGP will be this year, but it's seems to be starting off far better than last year's SBK. The one make tire rule will make it somewhat more interesting even without any factories but Ducati. Last year was just plain ridiculous and hardly worth watching except for the simple pleasure of watching bikes go fast. This year has more talent in the field and like others have mentioned, the Ten Kate Honda outfit with Vermulen will probably be fighting pretty strong for the title.

The "slip n' slide" in the 2nd race wasn't due to rain.....how about watching the races before commenting????

Cause ridding Carneggie is more fun...

That about explain it? Sides, getting the play by play from you is more exciting...the announcers can't compete with your bullshit!

You should/could have recorded it but were you afraid that might cut into the 43 man circle jerk taping? Which inbreed hick won this time?

No race this weekend. WSB will not take precedence over Nascar. Get over it...
