From Roadracing World and Motorcycle Technology Volume 14, Number 8:

Laguna Seca officials were at the Catalan GP for talks with Dorna the MotoGP rights holders. And the two parties have reached a verbal agreement that the California circuit will run a round of the MotoGP World Championship during July 2005. Laguna thus gets the nod over Alabama's Barber circuit. But Laguna will only run a MotoGP race, supported by AMA events, rather than the 250cc and 125cc GPs. Laguna last hosted a GP race in 1994.

If its a repost kiss my ass.

And you know this man!!! :thumbup :smoking

Last I read there was a prety firm agreement. The downside is that there will need to be some improvement to the track that has already been agreed upon by riders and GP officials. This work can't be done during the rainy season, so if this is a reality they will begin working on the track as soon as next month. I don't know what that means for already scheduled trackdays, and or the trackday schedules for early next year. Kudos to SCRAMP if they do agree and make this happen.

[prayer]
Dear God, I know I haven't been the best person in the world, both morally and ethically. However, in light of the recent developments in Moto GP being brought to Laguna Seca, I'm willing to change my heathen ways and live a pure and righteous life. Please find it in your infinate wisdom to guide the powers that be in the Moto GP organization to grant us a Moto GP race in 2005. Amen.

"supported by AMA events"

sweet! they'll have the AMA superbike guys out there, and we'll really be able to see the differences vs. MotoGP...

This also means that I'll be able to retain my campspot if they run w/ the AMA on that same weekend. Damn, this is good news.

PS bishop: if all holds true to the AMA/WSBK weekend, it has been consistently on the weekend after the 4th of July weekend...(they had it on the 4th before (WSBK only event), but the general camping became a war zone with dry grass, hence the move to the weekend after the 4th).

This is just good news, no action, but vastly better than bad news.

They selling tickets yet!?!?!!?

July? What about WSB? Back in the ole days, WSB was in April & GP in Sept/October.....can't remember which. Should be good tho. Haven't been to the GP race since 1993!

I don't think that WSB would want to run on the same weekend as the motoGP guys..... especially given that their times were about 2 seconds slower than the AMA times. ;)

I'm sure there were some good reasons for that but they might not want a same weekend comparison to the motoGP guys who could be going 5 seconds faster.

LIKE! OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! LIKE WOW!

I've already got a condo reserved for the week after 4th of July. Hope it runs that weekend. Either way, glad it's back:thumbup

Kudos to SCRAMP if they do agree and make this happen.

my little sister's bestfriend's Aunt (who got me free everything this year @ Laguna including parking lot #1) works in the maintenence dept. @ Laguna and has personally verified that the work is in progress to accomodate Moto GP!
