08.20-22 ride: posted 08.26

Went to Tahoe via the Delta, Sacramento, Jackson, Reno, Virginia City, etc...just now posting the picts.

The Ducati ran like a champ after getting a little tune up after the "bus incident." Munroe took care of us, although the spedometer stopped working on Friday, so Saturday's ride was cut short for a visit to a shop in Reno.

First shot is from the "chase vehicle" Alfa Romeo on our way through the Delta.

a roadside oddity--not the fruitstand, but the name of it.

The boys say hi in B.A.R.F. fashion from Virginia City, Nevada.

The building behind my bike used to be an old school house. Now, it's a great place to sneak in without paying for a museum ticket to use the bathroom.

There were a few thunderheads that rolled through the area on Friday's ride. Yes, there was hail... owwww

This is one of the absurdly high curbs in Jackson... If I didn't mention it already this is prime Hog territory. Lots of large, leather-clad men drinking beer--generally a good thing, except that they were dusting my ass on those huge cruisers. I'm going to claim that they were more familiar with the roads up there than I.

I'm not an elitist when it comes to the chromed ones. They can be beautiful.

...but the sportsters are prettier. (yeah, more photoshop work...)

You're too quick!! I'd like to think that you were paying that stylish lookin' chic in the side view mirror a compliment, but I have a feeling you're talking about my tank shot. Yeah, I like it too. You can't the see the dents in that one!

Check the box marked 'BLING'

It seems to be a 50/50 split on the pipe with most people who see it. It always draws attention... The bike was some sort of fancied up floor model and he took it home when the shop was done displaying it. I think it had like 40 miles on it, so he got a great deal.

I think it looks like a little "pipe-lette." Not sure why it's there, when the whole point is to clean up the lines with the undertail pipe. I'm guessing its presence is there for performance, because I don't know of much aftermarket stuff out there promoting better air quality. I'm sure he told me once. He's from Reno but peruses this site occasionally. Maybe he'll tell us himself.

He's off getting an apartment in Arizona as we speak--he's been accepted to the Motorcycle & Marine Mechanics Institute over there. He ideally hopes to race but would be very happy with a spot on a pit crew and satisfied just working on sport bikes the rest of his life... He's never been keen on schoolin' but put a wrench in his hand and he turns into some sort of mechanical genius. He's also a natural on anything with two wheels--his brother and dad have those good genes too. (They're the three giving the BARF salute)
