It's time we gave it to those sheltered, priveliged snoots in Palo Alto.
November 26th through the 28th, the Stanford Theater will be screening Marlon Brando's seminal "The Wild One", the movie which made us all motorcycle hooligans in the eyes of the clueless masses.
If you're not familiar with this movie, it was a 50's dramatization loosely based on one of the first post-WW2 rallies down in Hollister. Motorcyclists ride into a small town looking for laughs, and cause trouble with the inhabitants of the sleepy town. It's pretty light when stacked up next to Mad Max or Faster, but it beats the crap out of "Torque". It's in Black and White. Supporting actors include Lee Marvin and lots of old Harleys and Triumphs. True "choppers" all. There are no Hondas, Ducatis, or Suzukis in sight, though.
The Stanford Theater is a jewel in a sea of megaplexes. Very large screen, hundreds of seats, and an organist playing a pipe organ before the picture.
Showtimes are 7:30pm all 3 days, and 3:45 Sat/Sun.
All riders are welcome. After the movie we will be re-enacting the scenes where the town gets taken over, using the streets of Palo Alto as our "set".
