I liked Barcelona as the end of year spot better than Valencia. I knew it would be a one off, but the track has way better passing opportunities.

COTA is pretty early.

A lot of red in that pic.

Cool thread, looking forward to the action! I can't believe Vermin Allduhgear got a ride! Here's hopes he can make the big jump.

All the rookies got out today.
All the rookies crashed today. So did the champ.

:welcome to MotoGP

Such an awesome sport at all levels.

I like watching the rookies excitement after they hold the throttle wide fooking open for the first time... there is so much more on tap in MotoGP they must have pee running down their legs...

I will never understand why they start signing riders for the following season halfway thru the current season. Like Fermin Aldeguer getting a MotoGP seat despite only finishing 5th in the Moto2 standings. Or Somkiat Chantra who finished 12th, and never did better than 6th in his entire Moto2 career, with only 2 wins in 6 seasons?! Ai Ogura at least makes sense since he won the Moto2 championship, yet even he was signed before he'd actually secured the title. Aron Canet deserves the bump more than those other 2 after finishing 2nd in the points

I just don't get it

Aldeguer was an early phenom.. slated to take the title. Chantra I think is homage to the fan base. Ogura for sure is worthy of the ride even with some stumbles.

Ok, but he DIDN'T take the title, which is why it's silly to sign them so early based on supposed expectations

As to Chantra, maybe it's a bigger fan base, but still think it should have been Canet instead of Chantra. I just haven't seen anything from Chantra that would suggest he'll be anything more than a back marker in the premier class. I wouldn't be surprised if he finishes the season with less than 50 points - and that's only because it's a 22 round season now. If it were still 18 rounds and no sprints, I'd bet he wouldn't even score 10 points

Also, this season showed why Garcia was passed over for Ogura despite leading Moto2 at the time. His performance absolutely fell off a cliff after that, likely showing that he doesn't have the mental fortitude for it. It's like he was so upset at getting passed over that he just gave up, proving their decision to be correct

It's pretty clear that signings have more to do with paddock politics than actual ability, and I don't like that. I'd prefer it be based on merit. I think the top 6 finishers in Moto3 and top 3 in Moto2 should be the ones to move up to the next level. Likewise, I think the bottom 6 in Moto2 and bottom 3 in MotoGP should be jettisoned, unless it's their 1st year in the class

Mir should be gone. His championship was more of a fluke than Hayden's. Just 1 win in a truncated season. A solid 3rd in 2021, but nothing after that except for A LOT of crashed. Yes, he's on the worst bike in the paddock, but that's because he's not a very good rider and couldn't get a seat on a better bike

Augusto Fernandez should also go. He's shown a little promise, but his results went backwards this year. Seems like a good kid, but should probably go back to Moto2 and hone his skills some more

Don't disagree.

Don't disagree here either. That was surprise to me.

Ogura made sense. The Champ and Japanese. With Taka leaving this will keep Japanese fans engaged.

First... every rider in MotoGP is a very good rider. Maybe Mir is not at the higher levels, but I still think he has a superior skillset than some. No doubt the Honda has sucked. A Ducati under his bum would sort this out quickly :teeth
Augusto Fernandez should also go. He's shown a little promise, but his results went backwards this year. Seems like a good kid, but should probably go back to Moto2 and hone his skills some more
He is out. Maybe you are thinking of Raul F.

Talent scouts are a professional sports thing, interesting that everyone in the paddock can watch Moto 2 & 3 riders.

The first throwdown had them stopping other forms of racing, but keeping the MotoGP Teams.
I saw some other dirt stories that seemed to imply that dirt guys to some degree would continue.

This sounds serious enough to worry me. With no KTM on the grid that is a lot of seats to fill with no plans to have bikes or teams being able to take them. Acosta a free agent?? Seems to me some team would snap him up at the cost of paying his contract and the one whom he would take their bike.. legal crap aside this sucks.

I don't think KTM is pulling either team from the premier class.

I could see them eliminating GasGas or the Tech 3 component. Certainly not MX or off road of any sort. That's their strong suit. But what would I know? I'm just a dude living in the woods somewhere.
