Any issue replacing just one fork seal?

Is there any issue with replacing just one fork seal on a Africa Twin? Only one is blown, was thinking of maybe just changing the oil in the other? Honda only has one seal and I'm here in Thailand for a limited time, just want to get the bike fixed so I can ride. Not sure when they can get a second seal? They quoted me 50 bucks each so a non issue to change the second in the future.

Thanks

Changing one is fine. Using aftermarket is fine. OEM sources those from the same aftermarket companies anyway.

They are typically sold in pairs for about $50 USD/pair of seals + $15 for fork oil. The rest is labor.

No you'll be fine with just 1. you can try a Risk Racing Seal Doctor or equivalent first as that doesnt seem to be leaking too violently.

if you have air bleeders in the forks it might be prudent to release build up pressure once in a while (dirtbike and some big adventure bikes have that)

I don't think it has air bleeders. Ya, I have done the seal Dr. thing with a plastic Coke bottle in Baja. It helped a little, enough my brakes didn't get soaked.

Thanks

Dropped the bike off this morning, they found a second set of seals that wasn't in the computer. Changing both sides.

Thanks

Just looking at my invoice using Google Translate, Labor was $28.30usd

I was quoted $350 to replace the fork seals on my Beemer and that was with the forks removed and dropped off.
I ended up doing it myself.

Do I need to reset my preload and dampening? Or would it all be the same. The guy at the shop said "not change" but I'm not totally sure he understood me?

Not your preload but your dampening may need to be tweaked. Ride it try it.

Disassembling the fork to get to the seal changes all your previous settings. Who remembers where you had them last: preload, compression hi/lo speed, rebound. If they used a random thicker or thinner fork oil than what you had, then all your previous damping settings go out the door and you'll have to recalibrate (ride, tweak, repeat until good enough)

Fork seals are one of those things if they part is cheap enough, I'll just do both. Maybe be unnecessary but gives me peace of mind.
