Just got a used 2008 R6 and rode home. I noticed a good amount of vibration on the left side as rpm goes up. The chain and sprocket are not in good shape (the teeth are not that worn but the whole thing is dry and has some surface rust), the tension could also be too high (the vertical wiggle room of the chain is about +/-half an inch). I am going to change out those parts soon, but want to get you guys input on what else to look out for that can cause the vibration.

For anyone who has ridden an R6 of that era, how is your experience with the bike? It doesnt vibrate as much as my superduke but definitely not smooth like my V4.

Thanks guys!

90º V4 has perfect primary balance, a great improvement over the buzzy, second-order vibration of an I4...

On a used bike full of unknowns check every nuts bolt for tightness... especially foot pegs and exhaust which may amplify the I4 buzz...

Check the chain tension at multiple points around the whole chain. I had a chain that had stretched unevenly once on a Ducati ST2 and it caused strange vibrations at regular street speeds. It would be tight at one position and loose at another. A new chain and sprockets totally smoothed that one out.

Oh, and loosen the chain if you're going to keep riding it.

Loosen your chain, check the chain sliders. Check your counter sprocket bearing by pulling on the on it with the chain overly loose, should be no play. Check wheel bearings next. Look for for the obvious, like loose motor mounts. Especially places where the PO may have put a wrench, like sliders.

None of the Japanese 600 sport bikes were vibey bikes to my recollection, all really smooth unless something was wrong.
