1 in 4 teenage girls has an STD

either;
this just proves that abstinence is working great (and we need another right wing president to keep us on track)
or
those damn faggots have infected our unsuspecting children (and we need another right wing president to keep us on track)

I personally believe that US Americans should learn how to put a condom on.

Somehow people find a way to blame EVERYTHING on a president. If the demographics in the report are accurate, then most of the infected teens are most probably from left-wing families. :laughing

First of, he was speaking tongue-in-cheek.

Second, most African-Americans aren't what you'd call 'left-wingers'. They just know that the Republicans have and will screw them over more than the Democrats. ;)

It is a result of an overall lack of education.

Parents don't want to talk to their kids about sex for any number of reasons (it makes them uncomfortable, it is a taboo subject, it goes against their beliefs, or they fear that talking about it will make them curious and want to have sex).

Parents don't want the schools to teach their kids about sex, so kids are left to learn from their peers or TV (or even the music they listen to).

I am not blaming TV/media, but parents need to be aware of what their children are hearing and seeing on TV and talk to them about it. If a parent doesn't want to take the time to have a tough conversation and educate their child or monitor what they are watching or listening to, they shouldn't be surprised when their kid gets and STD or gets knocked up.

Sounds like he's just stating what he read. Why? I have no idea:|

All I know is that I used like 1 rubber in HS and walked away scott free...YES!

It is worse than that. I know someone who's 12 year old daughter asked her dad about condoms. So he told her about them. Her teacher found out and reported the family to CPS and the girl was taken from her home until everyone went through screening and counseling to check for sexual abuse. At the end it was 'sorry...you can have your kid back now...our bad'.

That's sad.

Jeez! That is HORRIBLE.

close, but not quite.

A report mentions the possiblilty that our cultures insistence on "absinence", as a means of birth control, may have contributed to this phenomena. As we all know, conservative values (no gay marriage, absinence, ???) greatly contributed to GW's being elected. On the other hand, yea, I don't think right wing politicians actually infected all of these girls.

Sorry I wasn't clearer with my post

I find it VERY interesting that the op's CNN news walked all around the "abstinence" word, but wouldn't actually SAY it .....hmmmmm
