are a lot of northern CA born/bred people moving to oregon?

The day OR allows legal lane-sharing, I'm outa here. :laughing

It's funny you say that, one of my friends who moved up there sold me his SV, said he was done riding, if he couldn't lanesplit. And this was a guy who was two wheels only for as long as I had known him.

Been going on since the 70's actually. There was even a bit of a cultural backlash, Oregonians weren't too fond of Californians. Go figure.

this is correct. a lot of those in oregon bitching about the californians moving there are former californians.

Okay not Portland but this is the daily view going into Seattle.
One of the reasons I quit working there.

The grass is always greener.

I grew up in small town Midwest. The notion it's a better place to raise a family is complete crap IMO. If your priority is a big house then the Bay Area makes it tough, but it costs a lot to live here for a reason.

I'm in a weird spot where the pay cut I'd have to take to move would be larger than the drop in cost of living. I'd starve. :dunno

Worst idea ever. Do you know how shitty the 5 and 405 bridges are during rush hour? :laughing

Also, you still pay Oregon income tax if you live in Vancouver and work in Portland. Oregon hits you up something fierce because that is where you derive your income.

That's why you live in Vancouver AND work in Vancouver.....like at HP :cool

My few experiences with Portland, is the traffic sucks. at least during rush hour.

That's because Portland drivers are slow as shit.........some of the slowest I've ever seen anywhere in the country. Prolly cuz there's so many softie environmentalist / artist / wannabe-intellectuals up there.

And LOL at Portland traffic being so terrible......It might be bad, but it's not as bad as SJ or LA or Chicago traffic.

Your knowledge of the PNW is as expansive as your knowledge of the south/Midwest :laughing

not my experience. last time i drove through portland, was driving an F250 4x4 hauling a five horse trailer doing 80+. everyone was going at a good clip.

thats because they can't afford to live where they grew up anymore. I still know plenty of people who live at home.

Don't move to Portland or Seattle, traffic is worse than here IMO

Both of these are true.

I moved my family from San Jose to Seattle about 2 years ago. It was the best thing we've ever done. I love CA but we will never go back. No income tax is a 10% pay boost, cost of living is the same or slightly lower, life moves at a slower pace, people are more friendly, and the outdoors are awesome up here. If you can handle the gloomy winters it is worth it.

The downside is that the drivers suck: they drive the speed limit at max, dont know how to drive in bad weather (surprisingly), can't handle roundabouts, and are too passive. That and no lane-sharing.

It would take wads of cash to get me back to CA.

In a non-splitting state, I would be arrested on a bike in very short order. I have zero tolerance for waiting for cars when on a bike.

How many men are you seeing per day? maybe you should slow it down a bit? :teeth

His commute is a god-awful living nightmare. Sonoma to Marin is one of the worst in the Bay Area. 2 lanes and no side road options, no other freeways. Total traffic hellscape.
