Hello- Just started riding again want to find some nice calm/relaxing roads to cruise around on the weekends for an hour or two to start building up muscles again.

Also looking for large parking lot to practice the slow stuff and wondering if anyone have recommendations. So far one I found is in Sunnyvale by NASA

Roads out around Uvas are comfy cool fun.

No help on the parking lot.

1. Large one on Shoreline next to MTV fire station No5 but it has a bunch of gravel.
2. Local community college on sundays morning.
3. Your employer's private parking on a weekend.

I used mostly community college option, but YMMV. I have had the whole setup: cones, and stuff. I used a few from homedepot as gates/apex markers and tiny ones from kamelkone for everything else. I put a tripod and recorded myself. Sometimes it's helpful, sometimes it's not. But it helped put everything in perspective. On a bike it felt super-fast and sooooo low, on a video I was barely leaning and slow as a lazy bee.

HWY 1 south of Carmel on the weekends. Typically heavyish traffic so it's not a fast ride but it moves along and its scenic.

Mission College in Santa Clara has a ginormous and empty parking lot. Off 101 and Great America Parkway.

For a leisurely ride from Sunnyvale: Fremont Ave, Foothill Expwy, Junipero Sera, Sand Hill, Whiskey Hill, Canada, etc..

Calm straight stuff. Nice scenery and reasonable traffic.

Uvas road and Monterey road are relaxing roads. Bailey road, LLagas road, and Day road connect Uvas and Monterey road at three places. For a little more fun, go up Metcalf road and come out in the Evergreen area of San Jose.

I ride that area still and used to practice at Foothill on weekends.

Arastradero from Page Mill to Alpine is imho a great road to practice on. Short but with nice turns.

You can even continue on and ride the back roads through Portola and Woodside.

One of my favorite roads is Canada off HWY 152. Perfect pavement with lots of twist and no traffic that meanders through the hills East of Gilroy and Morgan Hill and intersects with several other country roads.

Hwy 25. Go as far as you want, but King City is a good stop/turning around point.
