The Yolo County parks site has posted the last night for Cache Creek is Oct 5th and they're requiring reservations, no walk-ups.

We're planning to camp on Buck Island on BLM land, and not in the regional park area. I think they are totally separate.

thanks, guys!

yes, we'll be at Buck Island, but the Cache Creek business is good to know ... hate seeing campgrounds come under the on-line reservation system ...

The way the new reservation and Covid restrictions in Cache Creek may impact Buck Island is that more people may want to venture to Buck Island.

think I have four guys who don't post in this thread, who say they want to come on Saturday, 10/10 ... no righteous n00bs, yet.

there's some chance of rain in the am (showers, 30%) Saturday morning, which should not be a problem ... we certainly need the rain.

my KLR failed to start this morning. I'm betting on a loose battery ground, and am going to try to fix it tomorrow ... fairly confident I can recall it to its duty, asap.

So, anyway, coffee in San Francisco at the cafe at Octavia and Page (Mercury Cafe), ride to the Suisun Valley Road Starbucks to meet the East Bay peeps by 10:30am-ish, ride up Suisun Valley Road or Paradise Valley Road depending on which side of Rieff/Rayhouse we feel like approaching ...

show-up-or-don't, this time or next time, unofficial non-BARF associated outlaw style ... masks and social distancing practiced.

looking forward to it!

Have fun out there John. If I was not committed to riding dirt with my Son, I'd be there.

So are we doing this? I laid out my camping gear, and it looks like rain is no longer in the forecast.

Is anyone actually meeting from the east bay or can we just roll out of SF?

Toying with the idea of riding my XR400...

yes, pretty sure Kalle and Cincinnatus and maybe bananachunks and my friend James are on board ...

Cincinnatus may want to meet-up in Fairfield, since he’s in Hayward ...

do you know some XR400 worthy route to avoid the slog to Fairfield/Suisun Valley Road? I used to go Hwy 37 to Sonoma/Napa/Hwy 121, but these days just grit my teeth and bomb up I-80 ... think that’s quicker/shorter?

twisting through the East Bay hills on asphalt to avoid I-80 on the way to dirt does not fill my heart with joy ...

iow, Cordelia Starbucks is pretty much right on the way ... I also called a coffee meet-up there in the Politics sub-forum, but suspect those guy think I’m a loon, so no takers, yet ...

anyway, you know me, we’ll see and always happy to be flexible ... glad to hear the rain isn’t an issue.

be fun to see you in SF Saturday morning, can’t wait! believe it or not, I’m bringing a brand-new 9” Lodge frying pan (and a fishing pole, if I can find it) ... we can talk food and how to pack eggs. it has a lid, and I want to bring some Pillsbury pop-n-fresh rolls and try baking ... ha.

speaking of n00bs, double-ha.

The 101 to 37 route is what I'd take on my 400. I'm more than likely taking the 1090 though..

The way I used to do it was to meet the group at posers corner where 121 and 128 meet.

I'll take the 1090 and meet you guys on Octavia. That way freeway isn't an issue for me.

They make egg containers for camping that work ok. Only a KLR rider would bring a cast iron fry pan / Dutch oven

don’t make me start posting pics of your rig when we camped out by Fouts Springs, or Grey Pines, for that matter ...

If it doesn't look like much rain or smoke , I'll join you for the asphalt portion and loop up to Lower Lake.

Poser Bridge (Pope Creek) parking lot is closed. If it's hot and not too many people, the bridge 1/2 mile north is a cool stop.

I'm hopin' to be hoppin' on my bike to meet you Saturday 10:30 Suisun VR *$
