Our friends at RideBDR.com have announced their
latest addition: the Nevada Backcountry Discovery Route ...
complete with a movie of the first group of
riders to complete the new route ... :party

There is a trailer at the first link above ... :ride

SF Moto, BARF Adventure Riding, the
San Francisco Motorcycle Club and the SFMC Race Committee
have joined forces to cover the fee to bring the
NVBDR movie to San Francisco ...

BDR is a 501(c)4 non-profit
that uses the money they charge to people who
want to show the movie ($250) in order
"to establish and preserve off-highway
routes for dual-sport and adventure
motorcycle travel. Through education,
advocacy, and promotion of responsible
motorcycle travel, BDR seeks to preserve
backcountry motorcycling opportunities
for generations to come."

Admission to this SF Moto/BARF/SFMC event is free,
and the BDR people
are so happy to have a showing in San Francisco
that they are threatening to send a BDR speaker
to the event, and waive the usual speaker-fee ... :thumbup

The NVBDR is the seventh western route
promoted by RideBDR.com.

The NVBDR runs north-south from
Jarbidge to Searchlight and takes about nine days ...

Thanks to SF Moto, BARF Adventure Riding and the
SFMC/SFMC Race Comittee for making this a free event, and to
RideBDR.com for keeping backcountry routes open to
through-riding and for promoting dual-sport riding
in the wonderful desert & mountain West ... :ride

BARFer gurka gets credit, too, since this was his idea ... :laughing

... refreshments will be available for purchase
at the SFMC fountain ... the tip/donation jar
on the fountain supports the SFMC Race Committee
to further their mission to promote youth racing ...

The SFMC is located at 18th Street & Folsom Street
in the Inner Mission since 1947 ... doors
open at 6pm and we'll keep letting people in till the
Fire Marshal says "stop!"

Nevada is awesome dual-sport riding!

From the RideBDR.com website:

"BDR announces its seventh route, the NVBDR,
produced in partnership with the American Honda Motor Co. Inc (link to Honda's Africa Twin page),
TravelNevada and RideNow Vegas.

The NVBDR release includes free GPS tracks and route
travel information on the BDR website, a waterproof map
from Butler Motorcycle Maps,
and expedition documentary DVD
produced by ColorBlind, and BDR Documentary Films.

The NVBDR is a scenic ride across Nevada,
beginning in Oatman, AZ, and finishing in Jarbidge, NV.

Created for dual-sport and adventure motorcyclists,
this 900-mile south-to-north route primarily uses dirt roads
to lead riders through Nevada’s expansive deserts,
open sagebrush valleys, and seemingly endless mountain ranges.

In rural Nevada, you’ll experience historic saloons
and relics from it’s rich mining history.

The state’s maverick spirit remains, and you’ll see ghost towns,
artifacts, desert sculptures, murals, the world’s largest car forest,
jackrabbits, antelope and even wild mustangs.

Most importatntly, the film reveals miles of
meandering two-track roads that are just perfect
for spending time on an adventure motorcycle."

This is an enjoyable account of NVBDR. San Jose BMW hosted the movie and speakers a couple of weeks ago. Attend if you can!

Unsolicited testimonial from bluesurf,
posted on the BAARC thread on the West forum
of ADV ... :party
