I've only been here 12 years, so I missed it the 1st time around. There had to be lots of engineers on BARF then though.

You definitely left your mark on BARF culture.

It can be corrected, by the way. Just edit in advanced mode.

Shouldn't this be a 'sticky'?

When we purchased our boat, was amused to know that the Perkins diesel was a three cylinder. Of course because of this thread.

It shouldn't have surprised you. Perkins is British.

Jason-

The Perkins is a fine beast. Now the electrical is English and another story. Strange that a boat mfg. named Freedom would build in UK, right?

Lucas and Smith electric parts and gauges in all the cars of my friends were a royal pain in the arse.

The last place I worked as a service manager had a lot of customers with Perkins engines. Generally, they were okay and held up over time assuming the owner maintained them properly. But yeah, those electronics...

Hyster forklift built some with Perkins, I drove one for Fleetwood Mobile homes in VV back in the 70's.
Mine was a 4 cylinder that would lose its' prime after three days of sitting. Had to bleed the fuel system of air to make it run, simple to do, one wrench.
