Flew to San Diego to buy a bike - BARF

I think I finally found the Yamaha inline 4 I was looking for

2013 FJR in great condition with slip ons and low miles. The top case
ejected itself on Sunday, so that was a shame, but I really do think this
is the bike I've been looking for.

Apparently the 2013 has cruise max speed of 82. I guess the brain is going to Ivan's
sooner than expected.

Its been fun so far, looking forward to a BARF rally soon!

Gee, the top case looked matching to set. Must have been an after market bought at a Harley dealer.

Kidding aside, nice bike. Have been contemplating getting something with long hauling in mind. Need to add FJRs to my research.

Yamaha fixed the cruise control max speed issue in 2014.

Nice looking FJR. Sad about the top case, can it be repaired? If not look for an aftermarket case. I few to LA to pick up my 2012 K1600GT got it on eBay. A fun way to get used to a new bike with a long ride home.

Nice pickup, curious how the hell the case ejected itself, though...I'm always kind of worried about that with my case, too.

Yeah, I hear you. I had ridden about 1.5 hours since I last touched it, so it seems unlikely I didn't lock it down. Its gone so, no use crying over spilled milk, but odd to be sure.

Good point, I got home and it was gone. Retraced my steps, eventually found it. Based on where it was I was riding 1.5 hours before it fell off.

When I got home I parked my bike and noticed.... no top case...

The rest of the story:

My top case jumped off. I retraced my steps to try to find it, but couldn't. Then Lynn and I went out in her minivan and she spotted it right away. She's my hero! the case was completely busted out but luckily I had all my stuff inside a small nylon bag the only thing that got damaged was a disposable pen and a couple of inconsequential items. Lost a thermal top....

I was in my head: car keys, house keys, insurance card with current address, bunch of other miscellaneous less significant stuff..

Yes and if a 2014 ECU can be found, they can replace the 2013 ECU with no issues (100+ mph cruise max). Wrecking yards can have them.
