I'm surprised there is such a shortage here in CA considering you can't resell ammo if you hoard it.

I remember the 22LR shortage from 5 years back since I just bought a 22 and couldn't find ammo for it anywhere, but a lot of the hoarders were reselling the ammo on Calguns and such.

Oh, you can still sell ammo but,

Only 500 rounds per month.
Only through an FFL.
For a fee.
& Sales Tax.
Buyer must have paperwork in order.
Buyer and seller must factor in time and travel expense to meet.
All the above makes it less than attractive process, especially for rimfire cost point.

Example- 500 rounds of CCI .22LR @ .10/rnd. $50 total FFL collects as much as $25 for transaction & could involve seller in 8-9% in sales tax.

Nearly eighty dollars for 500 rounds of plinking? No thanks.

It's hard to get ammo here when you have a job and all the other guys are waiting in line at 7:30am for the store to open at 8:30am so they can wipe out the shelves. Work sucks.....

I paid an online seller $30/bx for some .40...pretty good deal these days right? ...then had to pay an FFL for the courtesy of receiving on my behalf which was an additional $30...and they had a few boxes on their shelf for that same $30 price.

Ouch.

It sure paid off to get an 03FFL and COE. I haven’t used them to buy any C&R guns but I have been using it to ship ammo to my house. It wasn’t too much of pain to get and it’s pretty reasonable to renew.

Welcome to the new normal. So Vista outdoors owns 3/4 quarters of the market and they are raising prices so now everyone else will to.....

Whatever markup Vista comes up with at least double it for consumers after retailers add their own.
