Laws and lawmakers - Presented by Cycle Gear
Bay Area Riders Forum is looking to help many other organizations in the fight for our rights where appropriate by rallying barf members and others who visit barf to take action when necessary.
There are not many laws that come out that are in favor of Motorcycling and we need to stand our ground as American Citizens that vote and fight for our rights. This forum will focus on new bills and laws that may affect us. It will also focus on Politicians that are against us or for us. The good and the bad. With our vote and with our opportunity to contact our representatives to voice our opinion we are a much stronger voice than just one. Working together we can make a difference. By working together we have an opportunity to speak up and be heard. We have an opportunity to influence policy. We have an opportunity to influence elections and the careers of politicians. When we influence elections, our representatives will truly listen to our needs. There needs to be a cross over as well from all motorcyclists. If you just ride street -- we need your support. If you just compete -- we need your support. If you just are a 4 Wheeler -- we need your support. If you just use the dirt roads in these to go hunting or fishing or rock climbing -- we need your support. If you want to protect the environment -- we need your support. Coming together as two wheel / off road enthusiast needs to get stronger so we can protect our right to ride. BARF Supports the Sport This forum should be considered serious and post whoring will not be tolerated. So please be aware we may edit out useless posts. Posts of support won't be, but we will remove crap and if you continue and suspension may be issued. I hope you get involved for yourself and future generations. ![]()

CARB; California Air Resources Board
...can mess up your motorcycle; this just in from Dan Amador:
Dear Valued Member of the OHV Community, I apologize if you are already aware of the California Air Resources Board’s proposed rule to increase evaporative emission control regulations on Off-Highway Recreational Vehicles (OHRVs) starting with 2018 production year models of most off-road motorcycles, ATVs, SxS, UTVs, and sand cars. Proposed CARB Rule/Order http://www.arb.ca.gov/regact/2013/ohrv2013/ohrv2013.htm Online Comments (OHRV 2013) http://www.arb.ca.gov/lispub/comm/bclist.php FAX 916.445.5025 your comments to: California Air Resources Board 1001 "I" Street Sacramento, CA 95814 Re: OHRV 2013 - Proposed Regulation Order -Off-Highway Recreational Vehicles: Evaporative Emission Control, Title 13, California Code of Regulations – July 24 Public Comment and July 25 Hearing I just became aware of the Order two days ago after receiving a call from a concerned member of the OHV community. This short notice is compounded by the fact there is a July 24 comment period deadline followed by a July 25 hearing. Based on my experience with CARB and their OHV related regulations promulgated (often based on what I feel is questionable science) over the last 20 years, I believe this proposed Order could have a significant impact on OHV recreation and related businesses. I also contacted the California State Park Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division after learning about the proposed Order to see if they had given any input into the proposal. Division stated they just found out about this proposed Order on Monday, July 15 and had not been consulted by CARB, a sister agency. Here are my initial concerns about the proposed Order: Impacts to Competition (Red Sticker) Off-Road Motorcycles Impacts to “Red Sticker” Riding Seasons Impacts to Competition Events Including Amateur Events Drastic Increase in Cost of Production (all OHRVs) Reduction or Elimination of Certain Lines of OHRVs/Loss of Consumer Choice Fiscal Impacts to OHRV Dealerships Failure to Consult with Division Fiscal Impact to Local Economies Questionable Staff Analysis of Economic Impact to OHRV Recreation Questionable Staff Analysis of Environmental Benefit Over Optimistic View of Future OHRV Sales As former chairman of the OHMVR Commission (circa 1994-2000), I believe that grassroots involvement in your government is your right and duty. If you feel that this proposed Order/Rule may impact OHV recreation, I urge you to submit comments that detail your concerns and ask CARB to do the following: Postpone Order/Rule and extend the public comment period until CARB reviews your concerns and consults with Division scientists and resource professionals to “ground-truth” CARB staff assumptions related to projected OHRV sales, economic impacts to OHV-related businesses, impacts to competition events, impacts to red sticker riding seasons, or environmental benefits of the rule. I would also ask that you cc your letter to the OHMVR Division. Please send a copy of your letter to the Division’s executive secretary/clerk at: Vicki.Perez@parks.ca.gov And please contact your elected member of the CA legislature at: http://www.legislature.ca.gov/legisl...egislator.html In addition, cc Governor Jerry Brown.
