(Someone asked, so here you go)
Jetting Settings: Bike: 2006 DRZ400sm Exhaust: Yoshimura RS-3 slip-on w/ FMF stainless header. Smog stuff: Removed Airbox: Snorkel removed, but no 3"x3" hole cut. Altitude: 0-2000ft Main Jet: 125 (Factory Pro: Note! This is different than other main jet sizes!) Pilot Jet: 25 (stock) Needle: Factory Pro, 3rd position from the top w/ all stock spacers. Fuel Screw: 3 turns out Carb: Standard non-FCR carb. Result: Fantastic low end, power wheelies all day, near 100mph top end and solid mid-range. Suspension Settings: Bike: 2006 DRZ400sm Rider Weight: 185lbs with gear. Suspension: Stock. It should be noted that suspension settings vary different based on what you want the bike to do, your style and just overall preference. You may want to use this as a starting point and fine tune from here on. REAR SHOCK Race Sag: 2 3/4" (I don't jump, so I wanted a little less than normal sag to help turn in) Static Sag: 3/4" (stock spring) High speed compression: 4 turns out Low speed compression: 14 turns out Rebound: 4 turns out FRONT FORKS Compression: 16 turns out Rebound: 6 turns out Fork Height: Raised ~12mm (all the way to the 2006 bars). RESULT: The bike handled fantastic in the twisties. Did not drift wide mid corner or fail to turn in. Contrary to popular belief, I did not lose any stability by raising the forks. The suspension was supple enough to handle all hard bumps (dirt even) and more importantly, that annoying bounce of concrete freeways we ride on! |

And once you get going, this is a Happy Brake - but for the street. EBC from Motostrano, with EBC pads and a stainless line. This puppy stops (and looks pretty).

My forks and shock are out to get a full treatment at www.evolutionsuspension.com ![]() I get my bike back in a week, and i'll report my findings. I'm going to revalve and respring both the forks and shock. Tonight, I installed my new 520 non-o-ring chain and little things here and there. I can't wait to get my bike back in a week or so. It's my roommates, but I saw that poster when I was like 10, and thought that may be something I can accomplish by 25.

Anyone ever hear of a 3/4 or 1/2 turn throttle for the DRZ? I'd like to be able to get to full throttle sooner but 1/6 sounds like it would be way twitchy for a daily rider. And no, I didn't search TT, kthxbye.

The DRZ comes with a 1/4 turn throttle. The 1/5 or 1/6 turn throttle will get you there with less wrist action that the 1/4 turn.
The DRZ is a 40 horse power bike (on it's BEST day), so there is no issue with the faster throttle being too twitchy. That's what I was talking about in my previous post. If you read a few posts back, you will see that the '03/'04 R-1 throttle assembly is just the ticket, and about $13.00. Give it a try. If you don't like it, you're only out 13 bucks and a half hour. But you WILL like it, I promise. Especially if you have an FCR on there :-) Lonster Edit: see post #35
