Interesting interview with Wilco Zellenberg

"The way we are working is a bit different than the Factory team because there's less pressure, also there are less Japanese people involved so there are less people that decide what the setting of the bike is.

"I think this only helps in our team that only one guy is finally responsible for that.

"In the Factory team it is not like that. Many people are specialised and they have to say something about the bike and they feel responsible. That's not always the easiest way to work because you have many voices and sometimes you lose time and you lose also the direction.
Might kind of explain Yamahas direction or lack thierof. Hopefully rossi will be able to get a setup mroe to his liking and get some results.

Never quite understood that kinda crap. At the end of the day piloting a motorcycle comes down to the rider. Therefore, if a rider doesn't feel like the bike is correct they won't push.
Vale, Mav, Fabio, and Franco are 4 different riders, so there are 4 different settings. Their computer algorithm may say all 4 M1 should be set the same way, but that's not going to work in the real world.

The article didn't say that. It wasn't even implied.

Riders do not setup the bike. Engineers do. Given the time constraints and difficulty of setting up a bike, the team of engineers must decide which settings to try to change and which to leave alone. The article did say that Yamaha may have too many cooks in the kitchen when it comes to those decisions.

Rossi and Yamaha did have any issue last year with Yamaha not allowing changes that Rossi wanted. But aside from the 1 podium after him and his team taking more control of the setup, his results went downhill and were eventually terrible. If anything, that's justification for listening to factory engineers.

Already the first complication! In years past, MotoGP rookies would have several days of testing at several different tracks before the start of the season...this year it's five, sure hate to miss one and let the others get a head start

I've been checking the live timing this morning. It appears to be an aggregate of both today and yesterday. Roberts was third fastest yesterday and that time remains third fastest as of this post.

Beaubier was 18th yesterday. Today he was 14th when I first checked in. Cam was as high as 8th earlier and it appears he finished the day with 10th quickest time over the two days. I don't know if he's ever been to Portimao before but we do now this is third on day riding the Moto2 bike on a dry track. Too early to speculate but when has that stopped us before.

Update:
Roberts was 2nd fastest and Beaubier 9th. Remy Garnder turned the fastest lap of the Portimao Moto2 test.

But I might like it better without the big "SU7 UKI"...
