funny that this thread was resurrected this morning, woke up last night for some reason and was thinking about this thread and the "mystery turn". And in my sleep deprived haze I realized that the reason why it was unfamiliar to me was that this is where AFM used to run the haybale chicane in the 90's, so I never realized that there was actually a turn there.

I had a 600 Katana...very neutral steering. It wasn't the fastest 600 in 1987, but it was very good in the right hands. A little know fact that many don't remember is Doug Polen won the AMA 600 Supersport Championship in 1988 on a Katana. I'll post a few oldies shortly.

Here's a pic for you Budman. This is 7-8 time Canadian Superbike Champ Steve Crevier chasing me at Sears Point on a illegal 1987 FZR750R from Canada. 750 modified production or stock production I can't remember.

Here I am reeling in your brother.

Hey Doug,

Here I'm reeling in your brother from my bad grid position. I wish my brother had tried racing...he was actually pretty fast back in our canyon racing days.

I remember running in 5 races at each event for like $100.00. I ran 4 full races weekends...like 15-20 races plus all the practice sessions at Sears and Willows. I used the same tires for all these races and actually won the 750 modified production race after reeling in Chris Crew from a bad start. Those old Michelin Hi-Sports held up pretty good obviously. I still get great wear out of my tires. As some of the old timers know...Chris Crew was no slouch...RIP Chris.

Ah the good old days.....Goodyear slicks, spoke wheels, when everything wobbled, when men were men!

Hey Budman, remember when you could rent Sears Point for the entire day for $25? We didn't call them "Trackdays" then, cuz we had to share the track with the racecars.

Nothing more surprising than going into 7 hanging it all out, when you suddenly notice a nosecone, wing, & two BIG slicks 2 feet away out-braking you into the turn....a Formula Atlantic car....yikes!

Well, still pretty new to this whole racing thing (still pretty damn slow too, but we're working on that ):

From this last AFM Round 4, 2015:

From right after I had the bike painted, so the numbers weren't on it yet, I believe they were the next day LOL:
