Where’s the ammo? - BARF

I have had problems finding .45 app, 9mm, 6.5 Creedmore on the shelves. I bought a bunch before the shortage but going to the range eats it up. The search continues!

Probably facetious because serious shooters know this has been an issue since about halfway through last year.

Someone brought up a good point about there being a ton of new people buying guns last year and them buying associated ammo for their purchases. Once you factor in covid shutdowns, ammo hoarders and things like that it may be a while before ammo becomes widely available again. I have seen 9mm 115gr FMJ going for almost 80 cents a round now it is getting ridiculous between hoarders and ammo scalpers.

Congrats on finding some ammo.

I have severely curtailed my shooting lately due to the shortage. Looking to pick up a 22lr pistol to continue training as I have a ton of it right now.

The ammo is next to the TP in the hoarder's spare rooms.

In some places in the bay, you have very limited access to a range without going really out of your way. Pair that with a limit on the amount you can sell. Even if a hoarder wanted to move large amounts, it's not possible legally.

True but this is not just happening in California and the hoarders are necessarily getting it to sell it but to hoard it for themselves. I am kicking myself for not buying the 308 rounds I saw at Wally world the other day. I really need to get my AR10 sighted in and need some more rounds.

Yeah that might have been a giveaway. I still remember when Walmart used to sell handgun ammo also.......

went into the local big 5 to look for a watch strap but wondered over to the guns and ammo section and the shelves were bare. I asked the sales person if they were getting out of the guns and ammo business, she said no but as soon as it comes in it's gone.
American rifleman had an article on it, long story short it will be a while before the most popular calibers are readily available.

It was like that at the Big 5 last year pre-covid.

We had lost power and I went in to buy a couple of lanterns, they had a single bolt action rifle on the rack.

This year is not shaping up to be the year I had hoped..... no ammo, no guns, no indoor competitions and gas is now up to $2.30 a gallon. Sigh....

My local shop just got some 12g shells back in stock and were not limiting how much you can get. Still no other ammo tho
