New Member- Hi all

HiyaÖ
Just introducing myself.

Been riding since 1989, only owned two bikes- Yamaha Radian, and a Yamaha VStar 1100. Iím mostly a commuter and local pleasure rider but I am planning a x-country trip this summer. The longest trip Iíve ever taken was a long weekend: SF<->Phoenix; went down for a three-game Giants stand. Put on about 2000 miles over the 5 day period, mostly in the two 800-mile legs down and back.

This summer will be my first real serious touring trip with 7-10 days of 10 hour riding each way.

Iím shopping for the right bike: Yamaha Star Venture, Honda Goldwing, Victory Cross-CountryÖ.that kind of thing. Even though my ownership experienced is limited to Yamaha, I want to look at all options.

Iíd welcome any advice/opinions about making a 6000 mile trip fun, comfortable, safe, interesting, etc.

loved the Radian ... go Giants!

where are you planning on going for seven to ten days ...?
6000 miles might cover a lot of ground ... to the east coast and back ...?

sound like fun!

For long distance touring it's hard to beat a Goldwing - pretty much ANY vintage will work!

I figure I can cover ~400 miles a day. so 7-10 days should get me to Philadelphia to see some family. I might cruse up to RI after that, not sure. I have a couple of months to goof off.

I'm thinking the 6,000 miles is the highway time for the round trip....not the total mileage.

Welcome! Can't go wrong with the Goldwing. It has legendary status for a reason! Just be prepared, it's a massive bike. Even has a reverse gear on it lol.

Welcome!

If I had to choose something to take to the east coast and back and money weren't an issue, a goldwing would be high on that list.

Get the Goldwing. It is the only motorcycle with air conditioning, that should really help out during a summer trip.

Welcome!!!

Welcome!!!
I used to think that way about 'Wings, and then I saw an ad for a Goldwing sidecar rig and the sidecar actually had an air conditioning unit installed! It also had a DVD player...
