The real focus was on intellectual segments of society and employment. If we're trending towards subsidizing half the potential workforce, that's an important topic.

That's not a sign of lack of intelligence but rather that we likely need less manual labor.

In the past most of every population was tasked with growing food, didn't mean they were dumb. Farmers in 16th Century England had no need to read.

Right, so if we need less manual labor and we have a large segment of society with practical intellectual limits that best mate with manual labor, isn't that a problem?

For sure. I think our society needs a basic minimum income.

But it's not an indication that we're getting dumber, if anything as a whole we're probably getting smarter. Kids are using computers when they're months old instead of talking age. Kids are programming in grammar school. The internet is an amazing source of info.

So honestly...despite my usual bluster...I don't know!

I wonder if you could say that people are getting dumber if the rate of increase of the lower portion has slowed relative to those above? Maybe throughout history there was so much to learn that it was easy and every segment learned a shit ton together, but now we're approaching a slowdown at a certain level of difficulty. Like if you had a hundred people of various levels of fitness walking up a very slight incline, everyone could do it, but the incline has been increasing and now a certain segment are falling behind.

Yeah, sounds like Imposter Syndrome, which is the opposite of Dunning-Kruger Effect. It's a sign of greater intelligence, actually.

Honestly I think half of his appeal to people because he uses overly complex sentence structure with flowery words, so all pseudo intellectuals nod along and pretend they understand the word diarrhea.

Powers that be in the US don't even want to provide affordable healthcare to the overall population. I don't expect there'll be much effort for employment subsidizing of this particular lower intellectual segment.

Sure enough.
Often it is really more of a learned environment test because so much is based on words and symbols of the society. Like an aptitude test. You will probably like this version better. I do:

There was an I.Q. test in the sixties that included an open ended question at the end. The rest was similar to "traditional" U.S. IQ tests. (Sorry, I don't remember the institute that developed it).: "You are dropped out of an helicopter in the middle of a forest. You have nothing but the clothes on your back. What do you do?"

I may not be the sharpest pencil in the pack but if your sample is split down the middle that is the mean not the average.

just spent a week at oxford university listening to academics pontificate about all manner of subjects. supposed high IQ individuals. key take away - there are a lot of nut jobs in academia, that live in a reality distortion field. lol at the relative value of high IQís. e.g. i asked one of them to explain their value to society, and they asked me to explain the meaning of the question.
