The Ricers who kill and paralyze our friends

“The DRIVERS who kill and paralyze our friends”

After a decade of riding Bay Area twisties Im thinking of calling it quits. This type of driving is becoming more and more common. The only thing worse than the driving is the drivers attitude. Having lost friends to such behavior and having a friend paralyzed by drivers like this. It’s something I can no longer deal with mentally.

And yes, the last couple of times I've been out there I had to have my head on a swivel; good thing I tend to bias towards the outside of blind corners because I encountered several import racer wanna-be's that went wide.

I'm always worried about idiots like this when I'm out. It ends up slowing me down a little which is probably good as I focus more on staying away from the double yellow. Did Skaggs last weekend and saw a lot of fancy cars out posing so I was on alert the whole ride, luckily never saw many of them and the one car I did encounter I saw well in advance and we both kept to our respective sides of the narrow road.

I remember reading about that, I still think about that story any time I'm on a popular road heading into a blind corner. So shitty.

This is him lives in Hayward and is extremely unapologetic about his driving. If you see him on the road, be sure to have a nice friendly conversion with him.

The last and probably final time I rode on Mines, we encountered something even more egregiously disdainful for other road users... The amazing fact of it was they were motorcyclists too.

Fuck.That.Shit. I'm not going to be someone's hood ornament because they are living out their video game fantasy.

I hear yea. As Iíve gotten older Iíve started thinking a lot differently about how and where I ride. Ive been a hood ornament before, I donít recommend it.

Will be interesting when they meet some like minded clowns coming from the opposite direction.

Sketchy a fuck for cyclists.

Makes going on Mines a new revelation of Danger.

Hit the track boys or maybe just see how you can roll on your side of the road.

There are spots where you can see and it is cool to use the whole road but the vid Hooli posted showed that they are both skilled and foolish.

Foolish kills.

As an isle of mines and SAV regular, when I come across these hooligans going the opposite direction, I pull the F over asap and let them pass.

The past few (pre-covid) years have brought out a lot more kiddie ricers.

I stopped and briefly talked to this kid. He said he wasn't going fast, blah blah Looking at the skid marks, my crash scene unknowledge would say he was flying. The rest of his Subaru group I had seen much earlier going the other way toward the junction from lick.

Glad I read this thread. I'm making a run down to Corbin in Hollister in a couple of weeks on a Saturday and was was looking at Mines Rd as a good "hey I've never been on this road before" diversion.
I think I'll pass.
