Orion redux

Shot this at Death Valley. Dark skies helped in capturing all the faint details way better than from my backyard.

Dude. That's incredible.

Seriously blown away by the immensity in that pic. And it's just a PART of what exists.

What kind of equipment & exposure-times did you use?

A regular DSLR + a 200mm lens. 130 exposures each 30 seconds,f2.8 using a sky tracker mounted on a regular tripod. About 120 of 130 were stacked + processed for this image.

If I had a modified DSLR or a dedicated astro camera there would be lot more detail and color but this is good too.

. There is so much color, detail, dust up there that only images can reveal.

And this one is just a little tiny slice of what's out there. We are not alone!

I don't have the sky tracker equipment, guess I should get out and try some long exposures.

Great pics, post more!

That's an incredible capture on a 35mm DSLR and some serious post processing computer time
