do you guys slide the rear of the motards on the street?
what exactly makes a motard a motard? how do you ride the motards in comparison to a sportbike, ie like at lean angle on the track etc. They seem like a good bike to learn more on and make your sportbike riding better. As in learning to spin the rear and stuff like that.

Some slide their bikes on the street.
A motard is a bike made to do anything, From track to dirt to billy-goat trails it should do them all. See this thread: http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/fo...threadid=33629 This is my first motard, a DR650e with GSX-R rear, brake, tripple, and wheels and a KLX front end. ![]() |

Very experienced riders slide in the turns on the race track, generally using engine braking and clutch to control the slide but you don't HAVE to ride like that to have a "Motard". On the street, Motards are perfect "Hooligan" bikes... ![]() ![]() |

The front lights came off of a Japan only XR250, they have a model that comes stock like that.
I did so much work to that bike. It had an Erion can and was super loud and fun as hell to ride. The only reason I don't cry about beeing so foolish as to sell it is that it's in Cuba. I sold it to a dude named Howdey Kirkbride, he emails me periodicly to tell me how rad it is having that bike on the island. That's pretty kewl. |

I'm also usually quite surprised when it happens, but I'm learning!! It can be underwear recycling time when it happens, but the more I ride the motard in the loose, the more in control of it I feel at a fast pace on the goat roads. Gotta say that it's not too comfortable on freeways, but it's still the funnest bike I've ever owned.

Actually I had that same color scheme on an XR650l as well and both times it helped sell the bike. A woman saw my XR650l on ebay and pretty much made he husband buy it for her. What caught her eys was the zebra skin.
I originally did it as kida a joke on the whole Camarro-white trash thing and then one day at the coffee shop I watched two UCSC cuties (they were not YET lezbians) stroke the seat and giggle. After that all my bikes got the fuzzy zebra skin. ![]() ![]() |
