Coming to wetlands near you - big rodents

https://www.google.com/amp/sanfranci...-wetlands/amp/

"The California Department of Fish and Wildlife said Thursday it is trying to eradicate the rodents from the state because once established, nutria could cause loss of wetlands, damage to agricultural crops and levees, dikes and roadbeds."

article/Invasive-20-pound-rodents-increasingly-burrowing-12567822

http://www.sacbee.com/news/state/cal...199362489.html

Ca will be very lucky if they can fix this problem.

Just another invasive species people let loose to wreak havoc.

Each female Nutria can give birth to up to 200 offspring each year. The 20 or so reported could become 4000 by next year.

The BARF militia could eradicate them in short order even if they had to use CA only approved firearms although for this they should allow an exemption.

The Nutria has no real natural predators in CA. Maybe coyotes will help out, while the Nutria are small.

They get pretty big. Up to almost 2 feet long. Not as terrible as a New York rat but then look what NY rats have to put up with.

Disgusting.
Are you sure they don't taste like chicken?

Eucalyptus Coal BBQ, Medjool dates stuffed in fresh Nutria and a side of Black Crappie fish. The perfect non native food source cuisine.

Nutrisystem diet in case you eat too much of it. Lecker lecker.

Exactly, my first thought.

It is amazing how vermin go wild because humans eliminate all the predators, first. Then we are all upset that we have too many vermin. Wait till the deer really return in earnest and people are demanding their annihilation because the deer eat their stupid roses and posies.

Humans are selfish, dumb, violent and over populating the planet worse than anything ever imagined. Virtually all world problems (and arguments in the kitchen sink) could be resolved by having fewer people.

Here's a great show about this exact problem and how it was addressed in a relatively small ecosystem.

Cool story bro I emailed the biologist from this show and he wrote me back a few hrs later. He says he and his team have been in fact contacted by CA DFW. Hopefully we're able to nip this infestation in the bud.
