Doesn't that escalate it from a fix-it to an infraction on the next interaction?

Not as big as a concern in the bay area where you're unlikely to be stopped by the same cop in a short period of time. I had written someone a fix-it ticket in a rural area for window tint, followed by a non-correctable ticket for window tint 3 months later, followed by a violation of 24004 VC for the same window tint 3 months later, and the next step was going to be jail.
Why would it have to be the same cop and seemingly within his memory? Does it drop out of the system if one just pays, which I did not think was an option.

Yes. If you get a fix it ticket and fix it, it's never in the system...which really irks me.

I had a laser jammer on a previous vehicle. Never got a ticket for having it, never got pulled over because a LEO's lidar wasn't working, and I can think of 3 incidences in which they did not stop me, even though something clearly happened to their lidar (you can see everything when they are less than a 1/4 mile away).

My guess is it probably wasn’t worth the time to investigate. There is no shortage of speeders on Bay Area roads.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Not all Lidar units let you know that your being jammed. Most do not. The way your suppose to use the Lidar jammer is slow down while it jams and then turn it off so they can get a reading. There are allot of variables to this. i.e. speed, distance, and amount of time it takes you to slow the fuck down.

Almost all of the leo's that I have spoke to about this have stated that they don't care. They said there are plenty of fish in the barrel.
