That's a bold claim, Cotton. I wonder why this bike cop would risk his career by stopping people "for no reason" when there's millions of people to stop all for legitimate reasons.

He pulled me over out of the slow lane with my wife on the back. Proceeded to tell me that my bike had to have ALL the stock bodywork, the stock headlight, ( I had a headlight from another US model bike on there) etc. He did the exactly same thing to a friend of mine 2 weeks later. I stand by my comments.

Cop bashing is not allowed in the LEO forum. If you want to call one an asshole, create a thread in the sink.

Perhaps you don't understand the difference between reasonable suspicion, probable cause, and proof beyond a reasonable doubt. He obviously recognized it to not be the stock headlight. Did you get a ticket for the headlight?

Ah, so he didn't stop you for no reason, he was simply wrong. There's a difference.

Vehicle code 26100(A) says all lighting equipment and safety glazing material must meet 26104. 26104 says the equipment must meet testing requirements established by law. I stop people for aftermarket lighting to determine if it's DOT approved in accordance with the above, because it's illegal otherwise.

It's reasonable to believe that if you do not have the original equipment, you may be using equipment not in guidance with DOT regulations...like basically every aftermarket turn signal or headlight sold at local retailers. Separate codes also establish minimum turn signal width, which is often ignored by aftermarket equipment. That's not a stop for no reason.

Everyone, I apologize for the post. Being a computer dope I didn't realize it was the LEO forum. I'm not trying to say all cops are bad.
Now searching for the "LEO Bashing Forum".

Ive been pulled over 3 times in California and given just a warning. Two on motos and one in a car

I was thinking all cops are cool in this state. Then I was pulled over 3 more times all by moto cops and a ticket each time

Can't win them all

I have to admit, I have deserved every ticket I've ever gotten on a motorcycle.
(I have also gotten more breaks than tickets)

More breaks is a good thing! I'm still watching my speedo more than I used to.

Having a good attitude helps when pulled over me thinks, last thing I'm gonna do is argue with a guy when I know I fucked up.
