Forest Hill BARF Trip 5/16-5/19 (Substitute for StonyBARF)

**Trip to be rescheduled due to weather. Updated posting to come soon.**

Due to the closures from the 2018 fires at Stonyford, we are working together to plan a substitute trip to Forest Hill instead. Also, we picked this weekend as the Sheetiron is not happening this year.

We will be camping in the Sugar Pines Staging Area.

Forest Hill offers a variety of trails from easy forest roads and mellow water bars to unrelenting single track and fun rock stuff. It also offers a reservoir that you can play in during the warmth of the day (though it might be a tad cold this time of the year).

There is NO running water where we plan to camp but there is a single vault toilet. You may be able to get water from the camp ground near the reservoir--but you cannot access the reservoir legally via OHV. Also, bring your easy ups as there isn't much shade in the staging area where we plan to camp either.

We are hoping for a good turn out. Bring your trials and dirt bikes! Camping is free! Friends and family welcome.

We will plan to meet Thursday to stake out some camping space but come when ever you can make it. Forest Hill (town) is not too far if you need to re-up on supplies and water.

I expect the park to be open by this date (currently extended closure due to wet weather). We are going to pre-run some trails to ensure they are rideable and cleared of any fallen timber before this weekend.

See ya'll out there!

Thought it would be fun to try and ride out and do Mosquito Ridge, since I've never been up there, and camp with y'all... but same weekend as the BARF Spring Rally!

I was going to but it got to a point where it kept getting postponed further and further because X was doing this and Y was going there. This is BARF--we can do more than 1-2 campouts per year if needed.

I set this one up and hoping folks will join in. If there is a better date and someone wants to set up another one--I will likely join theirs too! :-) It is tough to schedule this on "short" notice. Ideally, we would have had this in stone back in Feb.

We could make a monthly series - Georgetown, Hollister, MoonRockers, Downieville, Hungry Valley, etc. There are a lot of great places to ride within a few hours of Bay Area--albeit some more advanced than others.

Thanks to you, I was able to spring this to action. I hope you can make it too!

i think we planned the first stony trip like 6-8 months out. BARFers need their time to plan lol. i dont think the bike needs much to get running. just a fluid change and carb cleaning. also need fork seals done. just dont have the space or tools right now to get it done myself and no means of getting it to a shop. i really wanna get out to forest hill though. i need to learn my local riding areas.

There's no reason there can't another one 6-8 months from now...
