Ride for Respect Tutu Ride (8/16) - Hosted by Cycle Gear

Tutu ride? Yes, Tutu ride. A little history; in 2010 one of our Law Enforcement supporters (a real biker dude) said he would ride his Harley from San Francisco to Los Angeles in a pink tutu if he raised $5,000 for Special Olympics. Needless to say, guess who rode his bike to L.A. in a pink tutu! And so the tradition continues. Now, do you have to wear a tutu? Heck no, but don't be surprised if some will! You can even buy one made lovingly by some of our Special Olympics athletes for $20!

Starting and ending at the Cycle Gear in Benicia everyone will ride an 80 mile ride together complete with a Law Enforcement motorcade escort. Upon your return to Cycle Gear you'll be treated to a bar-b-que lunch with awards and raffle drawings taking place at the conclusion of the event. Guest lunch tickets can be purchased in advance for $10.

Date
Saturday, August 16th

Start and End Location:
Cycle Gear
4705 Industrial Way
Benicia, CA 94510

Schedule
9:00 am - Registration Opens
10:00 am - Welcome and Opening Ceremonies
10:30 am - Kick stands up
12:30 pm - Bar-b-que lunch for all riders

Take advantage of the online registration fees of $35 for rider or $50 for rider & passenger. Day of registration is $45 for rider and $60 for rider & passenger.

Want to do more? Register as a gold medal rider or couple and raise additional funds for Special Olympics. Online fundraising is easy with the tools we've provided. Did you know that it costs approximately $100 to support one athlete for one sport season? But our athletes participate a no cost to them or their families because of the generosity of our supporters.

All passengers must sign a waiver. (Registered riders sign the electronic version when they register.) Save yourself the hassle at registration, print it out and bring with you. Passenger & Under 18 Years Old Waiver. Riders under 18 years of age must bring the waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian.

All proceeds benefit Special Olympics Northern California.

If you have any questions, please contact Ruth Sanchez at RuthS@sonc.org or at 925-944-8801 x211.

It's definitely going to be a good time and for a great cause! We have some pretty cool raffle prizes to give away and the route is MUCH better than last year's slab ride.

This is awesome, I hope you all have a good turn out and a great day. I would like to suggest re-wording the quoted section of your original post for clarity. I think you meant to say "$35 per rider or $50 per rider + passenger.." right?

Hope the Tutu riders I gave the BARF salute from my Toyota FJ were cognizant its meaning of affection.

Saw the group headed north at American Canyon road. Appropriately just a stone's throw from Napa State Hospital.

Wish I would have saw! I would have returned the gesture!

All in all, it was a great ride. We were able to raise over $6000 that will go right back to the Special Olympics of Northern California. Thanks for everyone's support!
