I've had that happen to me a few times from athletic injuries, it wasn't fun. The painful part was when one got infected, had to heat up a needle with a lighter and burn a hole through the toenail to relieve the pressure. Painful as fuck. I still cringe at the thought of it.

Man that ain't shiiiiit!
Try having your nails pulled out from the nail bed while being attached at the tip only.
Basically the reverse of that gif...
Two finger tips cut 90% off plus the denailing..
THAT shit was fooking painful. The stitches were the easy part..
All back to 100% normal now surprisingly.
I have pictures but I'll save your guys' lunch

I rolled over my finger on a skateboard abd basically popped it right off. It was just hanging by a bit by the bed.

Also, water that clear is spring fed from the bottom of the hole, not coming from a river full of sediment. Another reason to cave dive, hanging out on deco just inside the entrance at 20 ft depth watching the locals cannonball into the basin. Amazing how many bikinis get dislodged on contact.

I had a fork jabbed underneath my thumb one day. All the way, in and out.

It definitely hurt.

But no blood, no real trauma, just a thumbnail that was loose, all the way back.

Had to wait for the nail to grow back. Toward the end I was coating it with "Hard and Nails" to keep the hang nail smooth.

I've popped the nail off of both my middle fingers (separate occasions) when I was a kid. First time: Playing baseball(shortstop). Fielding a ground ball and it kicks to my right. I stick my bare hand out to snag the ball. It jumps, whacks my hand and rips off my fingernail.

Second time: Slammed my left hand between the door and the door jamb. The edge of the door scored a perfect hit on the center of my fingernail and smacked it hard enough to pop off the nail.

To this day, both the nails on my middle fingers are different. They're thinner and if I put pressure on those nails it feels different than any other finger.
