Too bad I missed it. I started heading up Friday morning with a trailer, but my SUV struggled to stay past 50 mph against the major headwinds on I-505 and 5! I thought there might be something wrong with vehicle, or at least not comfortable pushing it all the way to Redding. So, I turned around and went back home. I would not have been comfortable with the safety and stress while on bike either. Anyone else face this?

Checked out the vehicle, and it is fine. Next day, I took the trailer to Bear Valley to test a climb and no problem.

John, it was a pleasure to have you join.

re: the picture of cowboys I was out front of our group stretching the DR's legs when a car flashed its lights at me. I started slowing down, crested a hill and encountered a wall of beef. I slowed down as quick as I could then turned off the engine to wait for the horseback riders to get the cows where they needed to go. It definitely explained why there was so much cow poo on the road.

As promised, pictures!

Welcome to California!

Leaving Adel and headed back towards Fort Bidwell.

Yes, I know I am a dork.

I love how rich the colors are here. Off Twenty Mile road just past the California border.

The view from NV route 34.

Damn I really did miss out! Good job TWT for setting a precedent at Cedarville. Guessing the only way to get that cool sticker is to actually go like I said I would

I'm no Annie Leibovitz but you don't have to get upset about it.

j/k. I'll see what's going on - they work for me on FireFox, Safari & IE.

I had a great time.

Didn't get to ride as much as I would have liked to. Never do.
But the company at Camp central way more than made up for it.
Met some great folks and real characters.
Grass for tents. Running water and showers. Even electricity, which sure helped with the group coffee maker.
Maybe next year the 1/4 mile banked dirt oval we camped next to can get used.
Or the overgrown MX track up behind the stables. (Rode it on my TW anyway, tall grass and tumbleweeds and all)

That's what I'm talkin about!
Nice call Cootz!

Saturday 4 of us decided to do a short (21 mile) all dirt loop.

South of Cedarville a few blocks then up Deep Creek Rd (25 -aka- 42N31) which climbs up a few different canyons to a ridge that heads south (good views of Surprise Valley) before descending down (27 -aka- 42N51) to Granger Creek Rd onto Surprise Valley Rd back to Cedarville.
We encountered a downed tree that required dropping off trail to bypass the log-stacle. (log - obstacle)

We also encountered patchy snow and several stream crossings as well as a washed out culvert with about 1-2 foot of stream crossing width. There were a few unintended drops but nothing serious. I think it was agreed that it was a nice easy dirt loop with a few unexpected seasonal alterations.

A few pics...

The downed tree that required an off trail bypass.
We've already gone around. See that small trail to the lower left, between the trees?

Drop down the bank about 8 feet, traverse then head back up after passing the log. Here's the upward tracks.

It was when the bypass rejoined the road that one big bike hit a rock and tipped. Broken clutch perch was quickly repaired with zip ties.

There was a small recreated village, called Louisville on the fairgrounds.
One of these buildings (not pictured) held the restrooms with the (hot water) showers.

Here the TW is parked between a 1940's Hammer Mill and a 1920's branding chute..
