2019 Dakar Rally time again - SPOILER ALERT

The Rally starts on 1/6/19 and finishes on 1/17/19.

NBC Sports(channels 81 & 723 HD on Comcast in Marin) will be showing half hour shows starting on 1/7/19 @ 3pm. The Rally website lists Red Bull TV broadcasting worldwide, I don't know if Comcast offers Red Bull TV.

Robby Gordon is returning this year. Larry Roeseler, motorcycle racer, compared the Rally to racing the Baja 500 everyday for two weeks.

USA riders to root for:

#5: RICKY BRABEC; MONSTER ENERGY HONDA TEAM, Model: CRF 450 RALLY
#29: ANDREW SHORT; ROCKSTAR ENERGY HUSQVARNA FACTORY RACING, Model: FR 450 RALLY
#59: Angelo Vlcek (Mr. Vlcek counts as USA! ); KTM, Model: 450 RALLY REPLICA
#71: GARRETT POUCHER; KTM, Model: 450 RALLY REPLICA
#73: SKYLER HOWES; HUSQVARNA, Model: FR 450 RALLY
#104: NATHAN RAFFERTY; KTM, Model: 450 RALLY REPLICA
#149: Gee Motzkin (we're counting Mr. Motzkin, too! ); HUSQVARNA, Model: 450 RALLY

looks like, other than the two factory racers, everyone is being supported by Klymciw Racing, except for Mr. Rafferty who's racing with the BAS Dakar Team.

some cool bikes this year:

Beta RR 430cc

Kawasaki KXF 450 ...

youtu.be/pUCSCqAyJiI

looks like Mr. Gordon has gotten into SXS ...

#316: TEAM SPEED, Mark: TEXTRON, Model: WILDCAT XX, Performance tuner: Robby Gordon Motorsports

he'll be competing in the Car Class against Toyota, Mini and Peugeot ...
looks like a stock Wildcat XX has a 125HP, 998cc three-cylinder EFI engine and curb weight listed at 1868 lbs.

So is somebody else going to drive that thing or will Robby Gordon drive it. I always looked forward to whatever excuses he could come up with for why he wasn't doing very good each year.

Is there any other site besides dakar.com where I can watch daily summaries?

I used to enjoy watching it on NBC Sports Network or whatever it was where the nightly results were broadcast, but I dropped out of having normal TV a few years ago and mostly don't miss it. Would like to watch the half hour summaries of each day, though.

Hopefully somebody will post stuff here, which will remind me to go check. I like all of it, the motorcycles, the quads, the cars, and even those huge trucks.

sounds like he'll be driving with Mr. KELLON WALCH listed as co-driver/navigator ... think Robby Gordon Racing is entering two other Wildcat XXs ...

should be fascinating ... can't imaging the top speed of the stock XX is more than 100 mph ... internet sez "95 mph" ...

also sez the Wildcat XX is made in the USA ...

I love the Dakar. Thankfully they're on NBCS instead of BEIN, so I can watch the 1/2 hour daily show.

If memory serves, they are 1 hour shows.

My favorite time of year!

There's a ton of stuff online at the end of every day. Lots of teams have stuff online, French TV usually has stuff. I get most of my coverage online, but I always tune in to what NBC is showing, simply because I want to show them that there really is a market for this stuff. Hopefully one of these days we'll get more that a few minutes of coverage per day.

I absolutely love the daily highlight show on Eurosport. The announcer (I'm not sure who it is) is so soothing the way he calmly calls the action. And his translations of the interviews are awesome.

Comcast customers beware:
My DVR isn't recognizing it as a series but as a singular event each day. I have to record each day individually. Check your scheduled upcoming recordings.

I stand corrected.
Still seems they were 1 hour in the past.
