12:14 Sanz at the start
Laia Sanz has also started the first special of the rally. The official KTM rider, Laia Sanz, is the only member of the KTM bike line-up to have completed the last 8 Dakar rallies!

Laia is probably one of if not the best all around rider on the planet. She could kick Toby Price's ass at trials and she could kick Tony Bou's ass in the desert. World trials champ, World Enduro champ, regular Dakar to 20 finisher, a way underrated rider for sure.
god bless Ms. Sanz!

Sam Sunderland is a British Ex-Pat living in Dubai. He does LOTS of dune riding. My money is on him, especially considering he's on a KTM factory bike.

Does it really matter when the front wheel is constantly in the air?

Of course.. the back is doing the work.

Likely a little lower than normal for each. It has been a long time since I used to ride Pismo all the time, but I recall taking out 5 PSI or so from the rear and 3 for the front.

Yeah the factory mechanics just bring the wheel to the Michelin truck and they change the mousse and tire. Just like MotoGP.

Interesting tidbit about the four-wheelers airing up and down from last year:

https://www.autosport.com/dakar/news...ir-dakar-rules

That doesn't tell me if they had on-the-fly pressure changes or just an onboard compressor for getting out and airing up/down.

Seeing videos of those riders carving up the sand has the same affect as big powder days. It looks SO awesome. I wanna be out there.... though I would be pooped out after 30 minutes at a 1/4 of their speed.

I am part of team anyone but KTM AND team America.

Its weird not seeing the Peugeots this year with the cars.
