How do you store your stuff?

I have a bunches of half used oils and chemicals. How do you store yours? I have shelving I got from Costco but they are grated shelves so the oil quarts donít sit right on them. Photos would be great of your garage set ups.

Just put a piece of 1/8th in paneling down on the shelves. Voila, a flat surface. Or be cheap and use cardboard; it will even soak up spills.

To answer your question, my garage has built in cabinets.

Used office and lab furniture places often have some decent metal cabinets.

I have a couple free standing lockers that came with my previous home when I bought it. They have Agnews State Mental Hospital property tags on them. They even have a small mirror, a towel rack and a toothbrush holder.

I've collected various metal shelves over the years. And I store things by putting the bottles on said shelves. They are bolted to the wall for stability.

I have a big plastic bin that all of the liquids go into - wait, two bins. There is probably spilled oil at the bottom of it and a bunch of stuff that should be tossed out, but none of it gets on anything else. I should probably clean it up and organize it better - one of these days.

Helmets and boots go on a plastic shelf unit or another metal shelf unit depending on which is most handy when putting them away. Riding gear will have a separate place to hang one of these days, but for now that stuff gets piled either on the bikes or on top of some boxes in my motorcycle area.

This is what it looked like the first day it was ready for motorcycles to be parked in the area. Not quite as neat now, after months of use.

^^ Does the red zone mean, "This is the bike area, keep mostly clear"? Or was it there for some other purpose?

The whole section of plastic tiles designates the bike area. It is saying "Keep your boxes of decorations and other random stuff off".

I store mine in the storm drain. Giving back to the Earth, ya know?

They are in a crate on a bottom shelf in my shed. I'll usually keep a bottle in my garage on my press for topping up.

If they are the same shelves I bought (really nice, can handle a lot of load, etc), I took out the grated shelves and put down plywood to the same dimension. Works great! Short of that, get some shallow but wide tubs to set on the shelves and put your chems in it. This way if they leak, its caught

Awesome set up Scott! My garage isnt as pretty, but like his everything is stored in plastic flip top totes or large rubber made bins with tops on the shelves lining my garage's walls. That includes supplies like oils etc. Everything that can be put away, gets put away. Flip top totes work great for oils to be stored on shelves.

Thanks. I’m going to keep my eyes open for some metal hanging cabinets.
