I have one of their 12v charging systems for my BMW /2, really nice piece of kit.

Got the VAPE ignition wired up! I'm impressed with the kit, but the wires were way too long in some spots and not long enough in others, so I had to make some decisions on where to put stuff. Most of the old wiring harness came out, and I'm not going to run a battery in the bike, or an ignition switch. It will be like a dirt bike with no key, which I prefer for the simplicity of it.

I decided to put the cdi, reg/rec and the coil all under the seat and behind the side box. I'll get another box for the other side eventually. The side box used to house the 6v battery and my hour meter. I'll wire the hour meter again, but I'll probably put it somewhere where I can actually see it. Here are some pics of how I set it up. It has a great spark! Need to get 12v lights before I wire them up, but that will be relatively easy to do. Then I have some jetting to do, take it off non-op and ride it! Cant wait! I love this little ride!

I made a plate that bolts to the frame and holds the main components that aren't attached to the engine. It all hides nicely behind the tool box.

You may need a small battery for the 12v side of things, on my /2 there isnít enough output at idle to keep voltage steady. My kit may be a bit different though, I only installed the 12v charging setup and kept my stock magneto ignition.

We shall see I guess. I’ve seen a few bikes set up like mine with no issues so hopefully I’m good. I may want a battery anyway as they can be convenient for things like running an electric air pump with the bike off. Hoping to make a second pot of coffee and get out to the shop to play some more!

My 1968 XLCH Sportster came from the factory without a battery. Generator only. It was a pain at stop lights at night since I had to keep it well above idle to keep the headlight and tail light on.

Got the bike running today! It starts much easier than before! This little bike had terrible lights. The 6v headlight is craptastic at best!

Bike is cooling down now. Plan to retorque the head and adjust the valves and give the valve cover gasket a coat of magic gasket paint. I think I need to add another mounting point for the exhaust pipe too.

EDIT retorque and valve adjust done! Took it for a spin and it seems pretty happy. Its got a little hiccup off idle but other than that it seems totally happy. Woot!
