After years of dedicating his passion and knowledge of Aermacchis to those in the Bay Area and other far flung places, Leslie at Moto Italia is retiring.

He played a key role in the build of my bike, so I wanted to get a photo of him with my '73 350 Sprint at the shop. I purchased the sign as well. I only wish I had met Leslie earlier - he's such a great person.

It's sad that the Bay Area is seeing vintage bike shops close and people moving out of the area.

Note: The previous owner did a fantastic job with the bike build - especially the paint. My boyfriend and I swapped the low bars for some that wouldn't kill my wrists, replaced the levers and switch gear, and installed an electronic ignition. The "muffler" that was on the bike when I bought it was so loud it set off car alarms (it was essentially an open straight pipe), so that had to go. Lucky for me, one of my friends had a NOS Dunstall muffler in a box that fit and sounds great! I also got a NOS fender from Leslie that needs to be installed.

P.S. I still have my vintage Honda's.

Haha! I have a blue jacket now too. I was hoping to ride the Aermacchi up to the City for the 49 Mile Ride last year, but it wasn't charging so I rode the CB77. It was nice to see you!

Leslie told me he was retiring several months ago Aermacchi parts are still available through Charleston Custom Cycle , Lancaster and Ebay. I would like to meetup with other Aermacchi people - but I don't have a trailer, so that is kind of limiting

Maybe we should have an Aermacchi meet up! Mine has been feeling lonely and neglected lately!

Gorgeous bike, and a fun photo. Congrats to Leslie on his retirement, and thanks for sharing a memory with us. Funny how our mechanics play such a pivotal role in our lives in such a weird way. I bet mine have no idea that they've made riding like, literally, possible for me. I simply don't have the time or skillset to do what they do and I sooooo appreciate them.

(1) We need a place to meet. Unless some kind soul agrees to truck my bike I am limited to parts of the East Bay that I can get to without more than a couple miles on a freeway

(2) We need a date and time

(3) We need a fun activity - like a ride

Or if we are just showing bike photos we can meet up anytime anywhere.

Ideas?

Also there is a nationwide Aermacchi on line club:
