803's are pretty good tires, Sid likes them and they work well in the mud. I've never run them, always used the Michelins but I'd say go for it.

2018 was bust in most moto-riding respects,
Except for that 10 days in Baja...oh yeah and that week in Moab.

Hope you can get out with us (both of you), Sid's place is great and once he gets his sticker we can all ride Carnegie too.

Same as Sid, I use the 803GP's and they seem to work well for my ability level.

It would be great to get a bunch of us together at Carnegie or another location for a day ride on the trials bikes. Might be tough with holidays approaching but hopefully soon!

EricB, 803GPs are noticeably better than the stock Pirellis from my GG Contact.

Well that was a fun get together! Had me, Sid, Francesca Mark, Jim, Allison, Martyn, Jackson, Maxwell and Bob; what a group. Rider skill ranged from Sportsman to Exp so there was lots of learning going on. Loved getting into section layout in the logs especially trying that hard left coming down the 3' pile then over the next 3' pile; good practice.

Hopefully next weekend will be happening at Gopher ridge....gotta' do some family stuff but want to go up and play on the rocks. some more.

Great day of riding, could not have asked for better all around conditions. There is some great stuff out there to practice and it was fun riding with such a diverse group!

Does the gopher ridge place have some small, like a foot or under, size obstacles?

Luke yesterday was pretty good the rocks dried up a bit but still slick in certain areas, It was just Matt, Kelly and I. We rode a lot of new stuff back in the the waterfall area and on that steep hillside, good stuff and difficult even for Matt. We tried that damn double log and still couldn't get over it just to tuff. We practiced holding pressure for a while and I started to get it towards the end of the day, hard stuff. Anyways hopefully get up there again before the holiday hits.

Good to hear you guys had fun, wish I coulda' been there. I was stressing out and working both days...yuck. Kinda' glad Matt didn't clean that double log, that means it was pretty tough (at least when wet). All of us got it in the dry.

Probably working this next weekend too, trying not to but it isn't looking good.

Get ready all you bay area trials' folks. Looks like there is still some possibility to run an event at Carnegie this year. Spoke to Jeremy about it when I was out yesterday and he was very supportive of the idea. Assuming it gets through the approval process (got canned last year due to much litigation against the park) we will run in November.

I also asked him about moving some stuff in the practice area and he is happy to. Likely we want to make some type of map (maybe just a marked up PDF of the obstacles) and he'll get a loader and operator there to work with us on it. Next time we're out there we should spend a few minutes on planning then we can make it happen. I know there are some cement blocks in the center area that are laid out the long ways and partially on top of each other. Exposure isn't too bad (4 ft or so) but if you want to put a foot out it's a long way down. If that was doubled up it would be more approachable.

Good work Luke, the bay area deserves another trial, cowpile isn't enough for the amount of riders down here. I think we can blow this thing up, with food vendors, amusement rides and dancing clowns...lol. cant wait to get started.

I totally agree.
I think the parks could use a bit of guidance here, as I see alot of high-up skinny-line sections, or tall objects with nowhere to place a dab, which always make me cringe.

The safest way to progress to bigger stuff, (imo), is to make sure you have a place to put a foot down on those tall obstacles.

(BTW, Low to the ground skinnys are a great way to learn balance, but when they get way off the ground... watch out.)

(or maybe i'm just a biased puss, having had my ACL taken out by falling off a skinny and having the bike land on my calf just as my foot finally touched the ground)

I also agree that more bay area mototrials wold be great! It just might pull more of us out of hiding for a local trials or two!
