Motorcycle vs. fire truck in SF--driver ARRESTED

What could possibly have led to this???
San Francisco firefighter arrested after collision with motorcycle

A San Francisco firefighter was arrested Saturday night after a collision involving a fire truck in which a motorcyclist was seriously injured, a fire department spokeswoman said Sunday evening.

The collision occurred around 11:30 p.m. Saturday near Fifth and Howard streets, department spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge said.

The motorcyclist was hospitalized with serious injuries, but was expected to recover, Talmadge said.

As a result of the collision, the on-duty firefighter was arrested for alleged criminal conduct, Talmadge said.

The fire department is conducting an internal investigation, and the firefighter has been placed off duty pending the outcome, Talmadge said.

A San Francisco police spokesman said he did not have any details on the collision or arrest of the firefighter. Talmadge said she did not know whether the firefighter remained in custody Sunday evening.

The criminal case has been referred to the San Francisco District Attorney for review, Talmadge said.

He could have been drunk. He could have been driving recklessly. He could have been a giant dick and refused to cooperate with the cops during the collision investigation?

Any of the three could get him arrested. There are others, but I'm just hypothesizing here of course.

Whatever he did, I'm glad they got him, the story isn't somehow blaming the motorcyclist and I hope they don't let him off easy because he's a firefighter.

Yeah throw the book at the guy who serves the community on a regular basis. Meanwhile, keep letting the repeat offenders deal their punishments down to nothing.

Ummm, people is people so things SHOULD be equal. That said , when you are in the public eye(payroll?) you tend to be held to a higher standard.
Until not that many years ago our local fire dept had a full blown bar in the back and was known to have some 'Barn Burner' parties....right up until one of the boys had a bad crash on the way to a emergency and was more than a bit over the legal limit.

meh... public employees have a very privileged position these days, earning well above private sector wages and having benefit and pension packages and job security that private sector employees can only dream of.

nothing wrong with expecting a high standard of conduct from them
