Stoner quits V8 supercars

It may be buried in one of the MotogGP threads but it is official...

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/mo...-1226718612192

CASEY Stoner will walk away from V8 Supercars at the end of the season, with the two time world MotoGP champion to quit all forms of motor sport.

The Daily Telegraph has been told Stoner will complete the final two races of the Dunlop Series before walking away from the sport he joined this season after quitting MotoGP.

Stoner, who signed a one-year deal with Red Bull Racing Australia, has found life in a V8 Supercar difficult and has had not enjoyed any success, with his best result 5th at Queensland Raceway.

He has complained about his media and sponsor commitments and wants to have an entire season off before deciding whether or not he will resume his two-wheel career or have another crack in a V8.

Stoner will race in the final two Dunlop Series races of the year, at Bathurst and Sydney, before ending his V8 career - for now at least.

Or he just doesn't like people ingeneral and wants to be left alone? I do love how people see it for what it is "quiting" and not this "retiring" BS.

So is it really quitting or retiring because he just can't deal with people/media?

He's losing so he quits. And it's somebody else's fault, of course.

You retire when you're done... you quit when consistanly complain about EVERYTHING that is or isn't your fault. Then head over to another work place to only pull the same shit.

The kid just needs to grow up... he might still be able to pull it off, although right now he is squandering talent and the small time window (age-wise) to put it to good use, and it is unnerving to watch

He can't even get the hang of RC car racing...

Heard he was getting banged around in the Supercar series and the pressure to perform was driving him to drink milk again...

Great talent, so-so heart mebbe? Or he's waiting for Pedo to get dumped and then take his seat in 2015 when Pedo goes to Suzuki.

Don't really understand the hate for Casey Stoner. The dude came from absolutely nothing, worked his ass off to get an opportunity, won two world championships in seven years, only finishing out of the top 4 in one year, decided to leave and everyone's butt hurt. As if he owes anyone but himself any explanations for anything.

My guess is that after a year in cars he realized that a) no matter what you race, the media/sponsor pressure is going to be there, and b) after racing motos, cars are never going to scratch that itch the same way. He probably also realized that racing motos is more about the rider than racing cars is about the driver.

I've never been a Stoner homer, but I find it funny that certain elements of the moto-media have a raging hard on for this guy. My guess is it stems from the fact that he refused to grovel at Rossi's feet.

Stoner does what he wants and doesn't give a shit what others think. I have no problem with that. For some reason, some people do. Oh well, that's what makes living so great. Different perspective and opinions. It would suck if we all thought the same way.

Stoner is a whiny little bitch.

He may be a great racer on 2 wheels, but I don't think I'd want to hang out with him.

I never met the guy, so I'd like to have a beer with him.

My son would love to go fishing with him.

Although I would prefer him go with Colin for that or hunting.
