RWR is pretty great closed. A lot less cars on it, though more cyclists.

Hope it stays closed forever!

Let me know what that ticket is for riding through a closed section of roadway.

CHP and EBRPD-PD are still patrolling Redwood...

Ah, the answer to that one is easy, then. Take the route you've laid out, turn around at the gate at the Calaveras closure, and return by the same route. Now that's the way to spend a weekend afternoon!

Google provides an expected reopen date next to all road closures. No idea where they're getting it or if it's accurate but currently says closed until June 30

Because Palomares has been mentioned here, note that it will be sometime after June 30 before they open it. I was just there this morning (at Redwood too, but no information on that one) and the guy who stopped me said they've found more work that needs to be done and it will take "longer" to complete than they originally estimated. He didn't mention when he thought they would finally be done.

Me and you fck'n both. Canyon announced a state of emergency, so it will get fixed real real soon now.

You can work around it on a bicycle.

A couple big ramps and a big bore dirt bike just might 'reopen' it

Riding a closed road can be dangerous, and should be done cautiously. I may of heard about some guy who new a guy that road his bicycle over Alpine Dam and up to the top of Mt. Tam when the roads were closed. He then proceeded down towards Pantoll Station. While rounding a tight downhill corner at speed he encountered about 45 hikers spread all over both lanes of the road and 60 feet deep. I was told that they looked just like deer in headlights when they saw a bike coming at about 35-40MPH. Luckily for all involved, they froze, and the unknown rider found an almost straight path through them. It is my understanding that said rider learned his lesson and will be more careful in the future. This lesson can apply to motos, cars and street luges too.

How many times did the undies of said rider have to be washed to remove the skidmarks???

E Bay Redwood Rd Closed

Just a heads up for anyone who rides in this area Redwood road is closed for repairs due to winter storm damages. It is possible to ride around the barrier on your motorcycle or bicycle from Castro Valley side and pass thru at the slide point which is still a lane wide up to the campgrounds.
However I did see a CHP recently riding up the road thru the barrier at the bottom of the hill,so they are keeping an eye on it.I see a lot of bicycles going thru the barrier, yet also riders coming from the Oakland side of the hill..The road wont be repaired for at least 6 months.
stay safe & enjoy the ride
