Apparently MarcVDS is getting Suzukis, so he might not even have to go to the factory.

I don't think Jorge is going to settle for $400k a year, he'd rather ride a Ducati and place 14th for 15 times that.

Oh, that IS an attractive picture. And thanks to NSR500 as well. I very much want to see the young man, multiple world champion that he is, come out the other side of this Ducati phase and find some form. Do not want to see a hideous burn out. He is looking very crispy as it is and it is ugly.

He's thinking "well, at least I've been able to get 3 championships since the competition in GP drastically improved"

He did an interview a few years ago, where he said he could retire if stuff hit the fan. It was right after he built his fancy house. Don't ask, I don't remember where it was. I bet he is thinking, "I wonder if Dani would like it here."

according to prob unreliable sources, Rins is making 1.25M and Iannone is at 2M. Rins will likely be asking for a raise if hes the clear #1 this year. so lets say he gets 2M. could Suz even pay more than 2M to Jorge? would he ride for anything near that? even Dani is making 3.3M and was the lowest paid race winner. im not sure Jorge's ego would allow him to get paid the same or near as much as Rins.

KTM seems like the only spot that could afford Jorge at >2M. but I think he'd rather race the Suz.

the lowest paid factory rider is Bradley at 850k. Petrucci is the highest paid Sat rider at 2.8M

Gotta look at the overall financial picture. He's got a deal with Monster that's supposedly worth $2M a year plus other sponsorships and endorsement contracts... it'll be worth a lot to his brand to get up towards the front of the pack even if he does it at a bit lower salary

I don't think he is going from $6 million a year ( I think he's making around that) to $1 million for a ride.

12M euros per year base seems to be the most commonly printed # for Jorge's salary. thats before performances bonuses (he did podium) and it excludes any sponsor contracts.

Nobody is going to re-sign him for his current $12M. His actual choice may be either $1-2M (plus another $3-$4M in personal sponsorships) or nothing.

I hope he signs with Suzuki and gels with the bike. He's never been my favorite rider but he's a tough little bastard. A few years back I was walking behind him at Laguna on a Thursday night and you could see his legs were so banged up he could barely move... and that was before he had that massive high side down around turn 4 or 5 and busted up his heels. On Sunday he raced anyhow.

dunno about that, exactly -
however, his stock has definitely risen
by beating AD04 straight up at a Ducati track

Barcelona may well tell the George tale -
win or no, if hez left Ducati at the end,
then for whomever hez already signed 2019/2020
will think they got a bargain (& will have.....)
