Teach New Riders

Looking for a few brave souls to join the CMSP. Instructors are needed all over California. Pay is decent and rewarding. It can be hard work, but its also fun.

There are several trainings going on this year. Typically you take off a week to get certified.

At the end of it you get a decent gig that pays typically in the bay area $28.50 an hour. Most sites guarantee 6 hours paid per shift, and double shifts = 8 hours + 4 hours OT = $399 before uncle sam takes his cut.

So what do we need from you?

An enthusiastic motorcyclist who likes to talk to people. You must have a fairly clean driving record as well as no DUIs (we work for the CHP).

Hours are long, mostly on weekends. PM me or post here if you have any questions.

I sponsor sites across the Bay Area and am also willing to point you in the direction to the site closest to you.

Yes, most instructors teach a weekend or two each month so they can do their 9-5 jobs during the week. Some instructors only teach one day on weekends. The schedule is very flexible.

The best performance upgrade is upgrading the operating system of the operator. It is cheap, easy, fast, safe and works on every bike you will ever ride.

I am also a Patent Attorney so if I can help you with any IP matters, please just ask.

What George said. This is ideally something you do in addition to your day job.

But I have to take a week of vacation from my day job just to get certified? Did this use to have an option to be done on four weekends instead of week?

Every training facility in the state is looking for instructors. Call the facilities closest to you and tell them that you are interested, they will take it from there.

The TCT / CMSP instructor certification is statewide. Almost all instructors teach at multiple locations.

More here.

I think I’m ready for this, especially if it can just be a weekend thing. Is there a schedule of training classes coming up in the next few months?

What does the certification cost? I think this would be a great retirement gig for me.

The process is:
1) contact a local training range as you must be sponsored by a range for the instructor training
2) complete an application and background check
3) observe several classes so you: A) understand the content B) get a feel for the flow of the class C) understand cone placement D) observe multiple coaching techniques
4) complete the basic class as a student
5) complete the Intermediate Riding Clinic as a student
6) attend the instructor training
7) teach a class or two with a fully certified instructor
