Just had a little one here at the bottom of Mt Hamilton Road. There was one a couple hours ago.

Research to follow.

Is it even worth mentioning if it's less than a 4 or 5?

Of course, it could be a forerunner of something bigger to come. This is a good time of year for Bay Area earthquakes, after all.

The house that I used to own was right on the Calaveras Fault and I was always concerned that it would finally go off and destroy the whole neighborhood before I could sell the house. Somebody else's problem now.

Not that we're free from earthquakes in Idaho - we had a 5.6 during the past year, up in the mountains.

I was glad to head to the safest larger city in CA for earthquakes from the Bay Area, which is due for another big one in the next few years.

3.4, IMHO, isn't really worth mentioning, I agree with Scott above on that. It is always ridiculous when SFGATE reports little quakes of under 3.0, who the heck cares?

Those little shakes make me think I'm having a heart problem with those little internal skip/shudders I feel.
Was it me, or a quake? From the ceiling, I hung a button from a thread as an indicator.
It ain't my heart.

Now this is something to be concerned about, in southern Cal but on a fault line that runs up through San Francisco.

Earthquake swarm rattles Calif., more than 100 quakes reported in 24 hours
Quote:
A swarm of earthquakes, the largest a magnitude-4.9, rattled Southern California near the Mexico border Wednesday evening into Thursday morning. No damage or injuries were reported.

More than 100 quakes of magnitude 2.5 and above have struck the remote Imperial County since 9 a.m. Thursday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
This means that there is movement along that fault line and it will put pressure on other points.

If I still lived in the Bay Area, I would make sure all tall stuff was securely attached to the walls. The big one is coming!

That's always been my concern with the small quakes. I suppose they are good for the region in which they happen. I think around the bay, we are most concerned about the Hayward fault and its potential connection to the Calaveras fault and also the Rodgers fault, where Calaveras even connects with the San Andreas zone.

Agreed.

A relax in one place puts pressure on another, the longer it takes to clear the 'stick' the greater the forces built up. You hope that it will release in a series of smaller quakes, but it doesn't always do that.

This series seems to indicate that there is movement that needs to be relieved and some day, perhaps years away, it's going to get relieved one way or another.

Sometime 6/7: pm got a three-fer up here.
Two easy west/east rollers then north/south sharp shakes.

Imagined myself as Slim Pickins riding that nuke, Yee - Haw
from the inside of my metal tube
