Budman----you are the man. I totally agree with every word of that.

xgambit---i know i fall under the sterotype of the sport roder, but have you seen the stock license plate holder in the SV. Im sorry to say it was just ugly. that is why i got ride of mine. But my license plate is not "shoved up the bikes ass".

well, really i had better examples for the sportbike stereotypes; the squids and gear nazis, but i knew people would get all defensive and start arguments.

Yup, let's ride. Just like life... in the riding community I find people I have lots in common with, and I find people I have nada in common with. It is just the brakes. It won't keep me from riding, no matter how thug-ish some, no matter how rude some, no matter how snooty, uppity, or wise....

Ride your own ride your own way, more important... living to ride another day.

great post. I think most of the criticism of groups here is done in
good humor. I dont think there are any real haters here i believe its more venting in the company of like minded people than anything else.

Barfers are all the same, they're all different.
trying to label, pigeon hole or stereotype the members of this board is truly impossible, just as it should be for anything that starts it's name with Bay Area.

on the other hand riders are trully all the same, they like to ride: if you didn't, you wouldn't.

but yes, i am against stereotyping bikers. because of the fact that we wear helmets, we sometimes treat each other the same way cagers treat each other simply because of the anonymity of not seeing, literally face to face. if we could all remind ourselves that the rider on the sportbike, or harley, or BMW is just like yourself. that the rider in the icon field armor vest and open faced nazi helmet and the guy in tank top, shorts and flip flops are, underneath, the same flesh and blood as the weekend racer in full leathers with scraped knee pucks.

We might all ride the roads differently, but we all ride the same roads.

except for yamaha riders, we all know theyre either gay or a girl.

Your comment on the bmw riders with the gray jumpsuits had me rolling yesterday when I saw two on the commute home. I never noticed it until you said so, lol

Not true. I wear a pair of jeans or cargo pants, a leather jacket, and a Scorpion helmet.

And I wave at everyone out there.

I don't like stereotypes, because they mask the people behind them. However, stereotypes wouldn't be stereotypes if they weren't applicable. While you can't just generalize that all Ruff Ryders are delinquents, you can recognize that the group carries that image for a reason. So please, by all means, admonish stereotyping. Everyone deserves a chance to show their true selves. But don't get confused between stereotypes and well-deserved reputations.
