Congrats your Aprilia is 35 mph faster than any magazine has ever tested it at. Top speed on your bike is 174 give or take a couple. Perhaps you should take that magical bike to Bonneville. It would set a new top speed record for a production motorcycle. Or perhaps I'll just call

+1 And the magazines have Pro Riders testing the bikes.

Aprilia's have an onboard computer that records the top speed, avg speed, etc. and it will keep it recorded as long as the battery isn't disconnected or the dash resets due to low battery. With a simple press of the button, the rider can access the info at any time.

As for the speed, I've tried different gearing and have never been able break 162 and I've got an open air box with aftermarket pipes and chip. I see you posted the pic in the Apriliaforum, I'm sure guys there will chime in.

But, here's one for you.

All ZX14 and Busa owners should now go trade in their bikes for an Aprilia.

And to anyone else thinking of duplicating this... that highway is open range with cattle milling about the road. On my trip thru there, I came across two cars with the front ends crushed, and the windshields clearly showing where the heads impacted them from the inside.

I went through that area last month but I was touring alone and carrying alot of weight so I wasn't too tempted to set any "personal speed records."

I want to repeat that being in an isolated area away from police also entails being far from medical facilities in the event of a mishap.

I don't know the accuracy of the calculation, but the Gearing Commander website says a 2004 Mille with a 17/38 sprocket combo is capable of 190 mph at 10,000 rpm. Just trying to figure out how you got another 20 mph out of your bike at 9,500 rpm.

Think about it guys, most MotoGP bikes only hit 200+mph on rare occasions. The only way he's breaking 200 is with aero work done on the bike.
