help with wiring BMW airhead ignition key switch

Hi Barf knowledge center

as you may have seen here, I am trying to resurrect a 1985 r80rt
http://www.bayarearidersforum.com/fo...d.php?t=532540

if you have or had experience with airheads :

sometime previous, the wiring harness to the key switch has been savagely hacked

do you have any kind of reference - photo or schematic, of which color(s) of wires go to each of the connector tabs on the backside of a new-to-me bmw key switch?

the wiring diagram in the haynes manual is not providing enough detail

post up or pm me for more direct dialog

Can you read pin numbers on the back of the cylinder housing?
Can you read key position i.e. run, park, off?

The four pins in parallel should be green, grey, green, and red.
Off should be open.
Run should short green, green and red.
Park should short grey to the red.

Let me know if this helps at all?

/Soren

Did this work ?
Bmw has had switches with 3 posistions, 4 positions, etc.
be sure the current switch has the same number of positions.

HERE's the wiring diagram from an '89.
May be close enough to help?

Edit...
In that diagram the ignition switch is #3.
Here's a closeup...
