Buying track days in the winter

With most of these outfits making you reschedule within 14 days or lose your money do you guys (and gals) just wait till the week of to buy your spots?

Seems like to much risk to order early, but then i also dont want to wait and find out its full....

Track days start to fill up maybe april-may ish? weeks in advance that is?

With the rain like it has been lately I’d wait. Guessing most folks may be of a similar mindset but who knows.
I’ve heard wet track days can be great for practicing smooth inputs.... throttle, lean, braking.
Personally I’m not a gamer for a wet track day but some have said it is good practice and it would make sense that the group sizes would be smaller.

I have no interest in buying rain gear or riding in the rain either....

For the most part, beginning of the season track days will not fill up too far in advance. In many cases, you can probably find space when the 10-day weather report comes in. When track days start to fill up in advance though, you just have to book early and hope for the best. Alternatively, you can buy a season pass with a particular group and just ride on the good days.

I have a hard enough time fitting track days into my normal life that I just usually sign up in advance. I figure that enough early bird discounts will offset not riding a rain day, and I've been lucky enough *knock on wood* to be on the positive side of that calculation.

Some companies allow you to cancel for a credit at 48 hours. In winter months thats the company/s I sign up with.

But thats awesome! thanks for sharing that info i will certainly look at using them just for that. It kind of pisses me off that these outfits require two weeks notice when we obviously have no idea what the weather will be at that time....

Yup, Carters. Quite honestly, it's the only company I book with until April -- and April is a gamble.

Carters puts on a fantastic day, for sure, and the 48 hour cancellation (For credit towards a new trackday of course) is icing on the cake.

I'll be in Thunderhill on March 9th. Lets hope for good weather!

I was supposed to be there with funtrackdayz on the 2nd and 3rd of this month but got rained out. They have a one week policy so I was able to cancel once 10 days forecast was out and reschedule for the 3rd and 4th of march. Which is a Sunday/Monday but its also East/West. The 1st and 2nd im doing the dirtbike flat track school in Santa Rosa.

SO yes Im really hoping for good weather. getting rained out last weekend was a pita!

Totally.

Well, I'll be there the 9th with Carters if it's not raining, and I'll be there the 15th of April with FunTrackDayz if it's not raining too.

See ya'll there. I'll be on the '390.
