It's been closed for a year or so. It reopened last Saturday, allegedly. It is pretty virgin now. Prolly. I must investigate.

Whenever I can...
Any who, Hollister yesterday was tits. Peets, Jays, Susies, etc and Troll. A couple severe mud things, but otherwise a killer powder day.

Maybe next Thursday at Carnegie...

The granitic stuff was good, a little more challenging than last time I rode right after a lot of rain (Feb 1) - more rutted. I totally knew better than to go over near Rancho and mess with that muddy stuff, but somehow I still wound up over there.

I rolled up on a moto+quad pair that were stuck in a knee-deep water+mud pit on Rancho Road (heading back away from closed Rancho gate). They got it out. I was told there were 3 more mud pits like that further up Rancho. I'm glad I saw them first as a warning and didn't think about trying to attempt that by myself. The only other option I think was going down Gully. That was also mess - lots of falling down and spinning the rear coated in mud. A guy was nice and didn't laugh at me and instead gave me a quick coaching tip to let the power out slowly and weight the rear more -- that helped a lot.

Now I know to know my limits/comfort zone and just stay south/west of Harmony Gate road for the fun not muddy stuff after the rain.

A short run up Okie Hill on the fun+easy granitic.
