Jeebus... that is a sobering read. I had already taken counter measures, and now I'm revising them.

Jeebus is it very sobering to say the least... no garage not secure.
If there is a will there is a way.
Like the guy says if it looks like its going to take a while to grab they would Pass.

Or that one bike that's seen better days but looks like its been ridden to death... Pass

I got a surprising phone call tonight, from Berkeley Police. The Yellow GS was found, in Alameda. Chopped ignition, but maybe all in one piece otherwise. Full tank joy riders??? I'll let Insurance go claim her, and sort through the damages...

Honestly, I had already mourned the loss and happy to be back on two wheels, with new ABUS locks and chains to better secure her replacement.

But maybe now I have a chance to reclaim the older bike, restore to stock parts, and sell at discount to a needful local rider looking to enjoy an old Oilhead that needs some loving.

Glad to hear that they got it. Buyback is likely dirt cheap so if you know someone who might be interested in putting it back together (yourself included), do it.

Good guy thieves. You get a new bike with insurance money and buy back your old bike for cheap plus the cost of some wires.

Wow... I don't know how I missed this before, read the AMA too. Gives me a new perspective on the industry, you never know who's who! As others have said very sobering indeed.

If she can be brought back I'd say she deserves it.

Fix it up! Give a good deal to the next guy on a budget and pass on the GS love. Use the funds raised to stick some Clearwater Krista on the front and fund custom suspension. You'd already budgeted for where your at why not?
